It was chilling cold,
Eerily dark,
Yet I sat alone,
I sat in the darkness,
Waiting for someone to come,
For someone to ask,
Crouched to the ground,
My eyes burning with tears,
As the strength left me,
I waited,
And waited,
And waited,
But no one did,
No one showed up,
Why was I the one?
The one to be there,
Always,
Didn't I deserve it too?
Didn't I deserve it?
Not to be alone.
Why was I kept there?
Stranded in the darkness,
All alone,
Why was I the one?
Who lost the hope,
Who lost the trust,
When I was always the one,
The one who cared,
Who loved,
Who travelled an extra mile for someone,
Didn't I deserve it too,
Someone who did show up,
But no one did,
It's easy to show up,
I know,
Because I always did,
All other things are just the excuses,
But I have learnt,
There are thousands of excuses,
And hundreds of reasons not to,
Learnt my lesson,
I don't expect anyone to show up now,
Yet I still do,
I don't expect anyone anymore,
But I will always be there,
Because that's how I am.
