"If dad was here, it would mean the war was over then we wouldn't have to go." Peter snaps.
"You will listen to your brother, won't you, Edmund?" Mrs. Pevensie pleads as she hugged her son, kissing the top of his head.
Mrs. Pevensie hugged Peter next. "Promise me you'll look after them." She pleads.
"I will mum." Peter reassured hugging her back.
She moved on to Y/n next. "I know things are hard for you, darling. But you are strong, I know it. And you'll take care of the others."
"I will, Mrs. Pevensie." Y/n assures smiling when the woman kissed her forehead, not noticing Peter's glare on her.
Mrs. Pevensie moved on to Susan. "Be a big girl." She whispers as Susan tried not to cry.
The boarding call began for the children to board the train. Peter was lost in thought as he noticed the soldiers walking down the steps.
"Peter." Susan hissed in annoyance as she grabbed the tickets from him showing it to the conductor.
"Yes, right on you go." The conductor confirmed.
"Yes, thank you." Susan mutters as she climbed up, Edmund following.
Lucy who was holding on to the eldest of the children, Y/n and Peter, he was glaring at the girl a bit cause Lucy clearly favored Y/n more than her own brother.
"Lucy come on, we have to stick together now." Peter said softly as he kneeled down to Lucy's height.
"Everything's going to be alright. It's going to be fine." Y/n said as well, rubbing Lucy's back comfortingly.
The children glanced out of the train window to wave Mrs. Pevensie goodbye as she cried abit, sad to leave her children.
The 5 children walked in a line across the train and finally found an empty compartment, Y/n struggled a bit to put her bag up on the overhead compartment. Peter growled a bit in annoyance and pushed her bag up, his chest against her back causing Y/n to blush at their proximity, Peter however just glared at her and sat down, Y/n sat next to Susan, frowning, Susan gave the girl a reassuring smile and grabbed her hand.
~a few hours later~
The children got off the train with their bags standing in front of the 'Coombe halt' station while waiting for the guardian. A car appeared at the end of the road making the children rush down the steps but it just sped past them and Y/n let out a small sigh of annoyance.
"The professor knew we were coming." Susan states.
"Perhaps we've been incorrectly labelled." Edmund suggested glancing down at the card attached to them.
The sound of a woman shouting startled them and they looked to the side where an old, but strict woman was riding to them, whipping the horse attached to the carriage. The horse stopped beside them.
Y/n and Susan looked at each other with wide eyes. "Mrs. Macready?" Y/n asked hesitantly.
"I'm afraid so." She answers blankly. "Is this it, then? You haven't brought anything else?"
"No, ma'am." Peter answered. "It's just us."
Macready raised her eyebrows in slight concern and surprise. "Small favors." She smiled a bit then gestured for them to climb into the carriage.
~a few minutes later~
"Professor Kirke is not accustomed to having children in his house." Macready said as the children entered the house, looking around in awe. "And as such, there are rules we must follow. There will be so shouting, or running, no improper use of the dumbwaiter."
Susan reached out to touch one of the statues. "NO TOUCHING of historical artifacts!"
Peter and Edmund exchanged looks shock and amusement.
"And above all," Mrs. Macready continued. "There shall be no disturbing of the professor."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Peter, Y/n, Susan, Edmund and Lucy sat in the girls' room where the news about the war played out on the radio.
Susan rolled her eyes, walked up to the radio and turned it off, the three looked at Lucy who was cuddled up in the sheets.
"The sheets feel scratchy." Lucy said sadly.
Y/n smiled sadly at the girl and sat down next to her and placed her arm around her, hugging her.
"Wars don't last forever Luce, we'll be home soon." Y/n assured as Lucy hugged her tightly.
"Yeah, if home is still there." Edmund mutters.
"Isn't it time you got into bed?" Susan asked annoyed.
"Yes mum!" Edmund comments sarcastically.
"Ed." Peter warns. "You saw outside, this place is huge, we can do whatever we want. Tomorrow's going to be great!"
"Y/n can you please read me a story?" Lucy asks.
"Sure, what do you want to hear?" Y/n asked.
"The one about the three brothers from that book you like."
Y/n nodded remembering the tale of the Peverell brothers from Harry Potter.
"Okay." Y/n said then tucked Lucy in and began to retell the story of the Peverell brothers.
~the next day~
"Gastrovascular." Susan said slowly. "Come on Y/n, Gastrovascular." She encouraged.
"Is it Latin for the worst game ever invented?" Edmund asked.
Everyone laughed except Susan who slammed the book shut and glared at Edmund.
"We could play hide n seek." Lucy suggests.
"Aw, but we're already having so much fun." Peter said sarcastically.
Y/n giggled at that but Peter rolled his eyes at that.
"Come on Peter, please?" Lucy begged with puppy eyes. "Pretty please?"
Peter sighed then smirked at Lucy, he closed his eyes and began counting.
Lucy giggled with excitement then grabbed Y/n's hand ran off to hide. They ran into a room, but Edmund was already there but he shooed them away. Lucy and Y/n began to open every door to find a good hiding spot, Lucy found one and the two girls rushed in.
Lucy walked to the wardrobe slowly pulling the sheet away revealing a wardrobe. The two looked at each other then opened the wardrobe and stepped in. Y/n walked backwards, pulling Lucy along with her, Y/n realized that the wardrobe was bigger than she anticipated.
The two girls continued to walk backwards and Y/n stepped on something crunchy and cold, she turned around as saw...snow.
