The barrel was knocked out a few minutes later and wolves sprinted out growling softly. The fox was leaning against the tree casually, it's tail sweeping the snow. The children and Beavers were sitting on the high branches of the tree, glancing down at the scene. Peter and Y/n were on the lowest branch, Susan and Lucy beside them, The Badgers above Susan and Lucy. Peter and Y/n were in a very awkward position, Y/n was sitting on Peter's lap as the branch was a bit weak, one wrong move and they will tumble down.

"Greetings, gents! Lost something have we?" The fox said loudly.

The wolves circled him carefully.

"Don't patronize me! I know where your allegiance lies, we're looking for some humans." Maugrim snarled.

The fox laughed loudly. "Humans? Here, in Narnia? That's some valuable information, no?"

One of the wolves had enough of his nonsense and jumped out to bite him, it's jaws cutting into his fur making it yelp out in pain.

Y/n almost gasped but Peter covered her mouth with his large hand and sent her a warning glance. Y/n hazed at him silently.

"Your reward is your life, not much, but still." Maugrim said, "now, where are the humans?"

They all watched, hoping the fox wouldn't rat them out.

"North. They ran North." Fox replied, looking down in fake shame.

"Smell them out." Maugrim ordered.

The wolves ran past the tree the children and the Beaver's were sitting on, heading North.

Y/n immediately climbed off Peter's lap and down the tree.

"Are you okay?" Y/n asked the fox worriedly as she turned his body over to look at the wounds.

"I'm fine." The fox groaned out.

They started a small fire using the sticks and stones, Y/n and Mrs. Beaver treated the fox's wounds.

"They were helping Tumnus. The Witch got here before I did." The fox said through gritted teeth. "OW!"

"I'm sorry." Y/n apologized, stroking it's fur.

"Are you alright?" Lucy asked, leaning over it's little body.

"Well, I wish I could say their bark was worse than their bite." He said. "Ow!"

"Stop moving! You're worser than Beaver on bath day!" Mrs. Beaver scolds.

Peter zoned out of their playful banter, his eyes landed on Y/n, his eyes examining her every move. Her hand gently treating the fox's wounds, her other hand stroking it's fur comfortingly. The way her dress perfectly hugged her body, her kind and sweet nature. How could he have been mean to her before? He regretted every mean thing he said to her.

Y/n felt someone watching her, she glanced up to see Peter staring at her, a small blush formed on her face at the intensity of his gaze and he smiled at her and she smiled back, still blushing which Peter found absolutely adorable.

"Thank you for your kindness, but this is all the treatment I have time for." The fox said sitting up slowly, making Y/n snap out of her trance with Peter.

"You're leaving?" Lucy frowned.

"But I'm not done cleaning your wounds, they could get infected." Y/n said worriedly.

The fox chuckled. "It has been a pleasure and honor, Queen Y/n. But time is short and I have promised Aslan that I would find more troops for the war."

"You've seen Aslan?" Beaver asked, his eyes shining.

"What's he like?" Mrs. Beaver asked.

"Like everything you've ever heard. You'll be glad to have him by your side for the battle against the witch." The fox replied.
