When A Part of You Family is Missing

Scarlet 12 hours in bunker

As soon as the kids fell asleep, I passed right out. I know I have my own room. But I could not leave my babies or sister alone. Because of this I was suffering when I woke up. One of the kids accidentally hit me while we were asleep. I know I need to get up, get the kids dressed. Plus make them breakfast. I was not feeling to good. This would be a perfect day for cereal. But that was not a choice. So I decided to make some fried bread. I was so thankful I was able to watch my aunt make this a lot. So I kind of memorized the recipe. After it was done. I set the bread on the table, along with peanut butter, jelly, and syrup. I made sure I made an extra large batch. So we could eat it for a couple days. After the kids were done eating. I took out some stuff to do. They could color, play with blocks, or play dress up. The twins i laid on a baby blanket for some tummy time. I had Ruby sit with the kids, while I went over everything we had in the Bunker. There was a lot of MREs. Plus a ton of non perishables. Then we had boxed treats for the kids. We had one freezer in the Bunker. It had all the meats I would need. There was even box milk. After going over everything and making meal plans for the week. I went to check on the kids. The twins needed a diaper change. Then I made sure Joey used the potty also. I then put all three kids down for a nap. I thanked my sister for watching the kids for me. Then I laid down with the kids because I was still in a lot of pain.

As soon as Scarlett laid the kids down in their room for a nap. Her and her son went to sleep, in Scarlett's room. As soon as her head hit the pillow, she was out. About two hours later Ruby heard the twins wake up. She could tell it was a hungry and dirty cry. So she got up and changed Ava first. She let her stay in her onesie, since they could not leave the Bunker. She then changed Eva also letting her stay in her onesie also. She then picked up the twins and carried them to her sisters bedroom. She laid the twins in their playpen. Then she tried to get her sister up. While she was shaking her sister awake. Joey started to come out of his sleep. He told Ruby he needed to go potty. So she helped him to the potty, they washed his hands. Then they both went back to Scarletts bedroom. She still had not woken up. When Ruby came into contact of Scarletts skin. She noticed two things. Her sister had a very high fever. Plus she could not wake her up. Plus the twins could not nurse from their mother. Or they could get sick also. Ruby remembered that Randy had told them a button to press if they needed him. It was for emergencies only. Ruby knew 100 percent this was an emergency. So she opened the closet in Scarlett's room, then she pressed the button. Then Ruby prayed like hell, that Randy would find a way to help them out. Thankfully Ruby remembered that her sister was allergic to most medication. When she looked for the medicine Scarlett could use. She came up empty. She quickly grabbed a wash cloth and put cold water on it. Then placed it on Scarlett's head. Then she grabbed the twins and joey. She put the twins in their baby swings. Then gave joey some blocks to play with. She then had to think what she would feed the twins. Since their was no formula, and they could not nurse. As Ruby was looking for something for the twins. As soon as she opened the deep freezer up. She saw bags of breast milk that Scarlett pumped and saved. At least the twins would be good for about a week. Now she had to nurse her sister back to health.

When Nick contacted us back, saying the two girls could be Megan and Emily. We were going to be leaving next week to head back to them. As we were talking, I heard our little girl take a deep breath. She only did this when she knew something was important.
