Chapter 14: Invasion (Part 1)

“Optimus never disappoints, though I don’t recognize that second hedgehog.” Megatron stated, eyeing where Shadow was standing with a raised optic ridge.

“That would be Shadow, the half-alien hedgehog I’ve often talked about. He normally stays neutral, so my best guess is that he was in the area when we got air born again.” Skyblade informed him, internally hoping that this wouldn’t be one of those annoying days where Sonic and Shadow will form a team-up against him.

The last time Skyblade had suffered such a helm ache was when he was still working for Eggman as Metal back on Bygone Island when Sonic and his friends were helping the Mobians on that island with their issues, during one of the times that Skyblade was brought online was when he and Eggman went into some other dimension where another version of Eggman was the ruler, but the Eggmen had traded places, afterwards Sonic and Shadow showed up and Skyblade had to fight them in a one on two battle, eventually Knuckles, who somehow had some defect of being bulkier and taller at the time, Tails, Amy, and Sticks aided them and took him down.

“Then let us witness how all of them will deal with this.” Megatron replied, Skyblade seeing on one of the monitors to the security cameras a few cannons popping out, each one aiming right at the Autobots, Sonic, Fowler, and Shadow, the blue and silver Predacon getting uneasy at how Shadow will react to a direct assault, which was never a pretty reaction due to what he’s witnessed.

The cannons began shooting at the dark-skinned man, Autobots, and two hedgehogs, all of which immediately scattering, Shadow glaring up at the Nemesis before he disappeared in a blue flash, likely using his chaos controlling abilities, except this version was one he could use without needing the green Chaos Emerald.

“What happened to the dark one?” Knockout asked in confusion, glancing around a bit, Shadow then suddenly reappearing right beside the Nemesis and spin dashing it, having the red medic yelp and stumble back from the black and red hedgehog’s swift attack. “Okay, I hate him already.” he grumbled, annoyed at the scare.

“Try getting hit by him from his brute strength.” Skyblade replied, unable to help letting a tiny chuckle come out from how easily Knockout got startled by Shadow chaos controlling.

Skyblade glanced back at the monitors, his spark thrumming as he’d spot Bumblebee running close to the Nemesis with the Spark Extractor in his servo, a purple beam then shooting out from the Nemesis, the beam hitting Bumblebee, the yellow and black scout warbling in pain before collapsing, the Spark Extractor tumbling onto the ground.

“Retrieve the Spark Extractor now!” Megatron ordered firmly.

Skyblade ran out of the command deck without hesitation, Dreadwing and a few of the Seekers following suit, the mechs transforming and taking flight in their jet modes upon reaching the flight deck, Skyblade flying ahead of them a bit and roaring out loudly, getting his enemies’ attention as they all glanced up, Shadow narrowing his eyes in confusion before he dashed at Dreadwing the moment the blue and yellow Seeker got close and began shooting at the black and red hedgehog.

“Mine!” Arcee yelled as she ran up and snatched up the Spark Extractor.

Skyblade growled before blasting his Ice Breath at Arcee, hitting her in the backstrut, the blue femme groaning and falling down, dropping the Spark Extractor, the blue and silver Predacon swooping down and picking it up, only to feel heavy weight on his tail and glancing down to see Bulkhead holding his tail in his servos.

Skyblade opened his intake to blast his Ice Breath, Sonic quickly running up onto Bulkhead, then on Skyblade’s tail before spin dashing at him, the blue and silver Predacon ducking his helm, dodging the cobalt hedgehog’s attack before turning his optics purple and blasting his Plasma Fire at him, Sonic jumping out of the way as the purple flames hit the ground, Skyblade then turning his helm at Bulkhead and blasting him in the chassis, the green wrecker groaning and letting go of his tail before falling down.

Skyblade looked up as a Seeker flew above him, and tossed the Spark Extractor at him, the said Seeker transforming into his Cybertronian self, catching the weapon in his servo, and rapidly transforming back into his jet mode, flying back into the Nemesis, delivering the Spark Extractor inside.

“Darn you!” Sonic yelled in annoyance before jumping up at Skyblade, spin dashing him on the chassis, both the cobalt hedgehog and blue and silver Predacon crashing a little way from the battle.

Skyblade rumbled in annoyance and stood up, only to be met with a blue blur hitting him between the optics, which only ticked him off as he roared and sent a stream of the Plasma Fire at Sonic, the cobalt hedgehog speeding behind a rock for cover, Shadow then chaos controlling and punching the side of Skyblade’s helm, the blue and silver Predacon snapping his denta at him, the black and red hedgehog chaos controlling again, this time reappearing beneath him and punching him on the chassis, Skyblade getting more annoyed before flying up and blasting his Plasma Fire at the black and red hedgehog, Sonic attacking next by spin dashing him near his pelvic joint.

Hissing angrily, Skyblade snatched Sonic by the quills in his denta and threw him, watching as the cobalt hedgehog crashed through up to three rock pillars before hitting the side of a cliff, the cobalt hedgehog then falling down, attempting to get up, but due to how much that all was, Sonic only collapsed back down, teeth gritted in agony and a few bruises riddling his back, the blue and silver Predacon landing and venting heavily from how rough that fight against him and Shadow was, glancing over to see the black and red hedgehog gazing at Sonic in visible surprise at not only how he didn’t get right back up, but from the fact Skyblade left a mark on him too, the blue and silver Predacon guessing that this was the first time Shadow saw Sonic falling and not getting back up, the black and red hedgehog then glaring at Skyblade.

“Aww, mad that your boyfriend finally got his butt handed to him?” Skyblade taunted, his voice somehow gravellier now, but he paid no mind to it.

“You’ve really become ruthless in this new form, Skyblade.” Shadow growled, which was a first for Skyblade, especially since he was doing it right after witnessing Sonic getting beaten.

Skyblade rolled his purple optics. “Says the one letting that egomaniac get you on his side again. You’d be wise to back off right now, otherwise the full wrath of the Decepticons will be directed at you.” he warned.

Shadow’s red eyes narrowed. “I can take on another army of invaders.” he hissed at Skyblade before then spin dashing up at him, Skyblade dodging the attack before whacking Shadow away, the black and red hedgehog sliding back on his feet.

“Don’t be so confident about yourself, Shadow. These guys know how to fight unlike the Black Arms, and you already saw that I’ve picked up a few tricks myself.” Skyblade replied, letting his words sink in before spreading his wings and flying off. “Decepticons! Back in the Nemesis at once!” he ordered out loudly, the Seekers and Dreadwing, all in their Cybertronian modes, glancing up at the blue and silver Predacon before transforming into their jet modes and following him back onto the flight deck of the Nemesis.

After being sure that Dreadwing and the Seekers got inside, Skyblade glanced down at where Shadow stood, seeing him glaring up at him before the black and red hedgehog spotted Sonic getting up and went towards him, the blue and silver Predacon grinning at the fact he overpowered Sonic the way he did before landing on the flight deck and heading inside, noticing a big mesh wound on Dreadwing’s arm with fresh energon leaking out of it.

“I never knew creatures as small as that black and red one could attack that viciously.” Dreadwing stated, seeming a bit dazed that Shadow did that much damage to him.

“Nothing that Knockout won’t be able to fix up.” Skyblade replied, nudging Dreadwing a bit with his enstril to reassure him.

Dreadwing glanced at Skyblade, a small smile curling on his dermas from the friendly gesture, only for a look of panic to replace it.

“Look out!” Dreadwing yelled.

Skyblade glanced over just in time to see Shadow, now surrounded in a red glowing aura, charging right at them.
