After Kamala got dressed, did her make up and curled her hair, she waited for her chauffeur and it was the first time in a day she could just sit and think.

Her head was still a bit achy, but at least no longer pounding. She was still emotionally vulnerable, but didn't have her daughter to comfort her now. It felt lonely and she sighed, before taking a deep breath to calm herself.
Her phone buzzed again and she picked it up, to check the text from Liz.

'I'm on my way there' and a kiss emoji.

Kamala smiled and responded. 'I'm still waiting for Frank to pick me up'

It took him another 15 minutes to reach her house and he had an apologetic smile on his face, when she got in the car.

"I am sorry, Ms Harris" he said "There was some traffic and-"

She cut him off with a wave of her hand.

"I know" she said, settling in her seat and buckling up "It's not your fault"

She was always good for the people that worked for her, she knew that they are all humans as important as she were if not more, that was something that made her different from most of her colleagues.

She had a moment for herself, she leaned her head back at the car seat and let herself feel for a second, when the car stopped, she had to come back to reality.

The car parked in front of the press conference hall and she took a deep breath before getting out.

Her eyes immediately found her daughter and she could already see some press people gathering around her. They always prefered her, which wasn't a surprise, she was younger and prettier of the two.

Her daughter waved to her and ignored the press to get to her. She had a nicely fitted green suit, it was matching with the colour of the suit she told her to wear. She smiled and looked at her like she was the only one she wanted to see in a crowd.

She was glad for the familiar presence of her daughter, her arm snaking around her waist, to pull her into a side hug.
"You look nice" she noted and smiled faintly.

Some of the reporters were already taking pictures of the two of them and Kamala gave them a polite, political smile.

"Mama you look gorgeous" Lizzie whispered to her mother's ear, her hand on her mother's waist. Posing with her to the photos.

"Don't I always?" the older woman joked quietly, before another voice caught her attention.

"Ms. Harris!"

There was a young reporter, a woman, waving her hand to get the politician's attention.

"Yes you do." When Kamala still ignored the press "answer to them mama you can't focus on me all night."

"I would rather focus on you all night" she muttered under her breath, before looking towards the reporter.

She forced a small smile onto her face and moved slightly aside so that the camera could catch both, her and her daughter.

"I'm sorry, what was the question?"

"What are you planning to do after the election madame vice president?"

"We will insure a peaceful transfer of power, the people had chosen."

The reporter nodded at the answer, before her eyes moved towards Kamala's daughter.

"Young Ms. Harris" the woman smiled "Can I ask you a question?"

Liz was not surprised by it, she was used to her mother being the main one reporters turned to, so she nodded "Sure"
