September 15 Friday Year 1
Seolli.
Have lunch with me!
"Seolli, have lunch with me!" Karin's voice calls from behind me at the same time I read her text message.
With a grin, I turn to find her holding onto her tote bag while she runs over to catch up to me. It's fun watching her colorful bangs fly up before she clings to my arm and drags me toward the cafeteria.
It's the first time that Karin has invited me to have lunch with her, and I feel like I'm buzzing with excitement.
We find a spot in the noisy cafeteria after dodging the groups of people standing around and talking.
When we have a seat, she pouts. "I barely see anyone anymore. I've been eating lunch all alone. Taehyung told me that you usually have your break around this time. I wish I knew earlier..."
I cover my mouth. "Sorry! I didn't know either."
I should have said something, I'm so used to eating alone.
She beams and leans in closer. "That's okay, we can have lunch together from now on. Did you bring something or should I grab something for the both of us?"
Immediately, I want to get rid of my lunch so I don't dissapoint her.
"I-I brought lunch today, but thank you! I'll watch your stuff."
With a giggle, she nods.
I wait for her to come back before I start taking bites of my food.
Karin throws her head back once she takes the first bite of her noodles. "How are your classes, Seolli? Do you have classes with anyone?"
I eat a bite of my beef and rice, and shake my head. "N-no, Taehyung and I did, but he had to change his schedule."
Karin raises her eyebrows. "Yeah... he's busier this semester and I didn't think that was possible. I thought things would be different now that you're part of our friend group."
"Different?"
"Like he'd want to spend more time with us, since he seems the closest to you. For a while, if we saw you then we'd see him right next to you. Didn't you notice?"
I feel the heat rush to my cheeks. Since Taehyung was my only friend for a while, I didn't really consider if he was spending more time with me than others. Especially since my whole world felt like only Taehyung.
