Lisa stormed out of the council hall the moment the meeting ended. She needed to breathe before she actually killed Jungkook.

The Mating Clause?
Was he insane?

No, he wasn't. That was the worst part. He was calculating. Every move was a carefully placed dagger, and right now, he was pressing the blade to her throat, waiting to see how she'd react.

Lisa didn't stop walking until she reached the training grounds, her fists clenched so tightly her nails dug into her palms. She needed to fight something. Someone.

"Rough morning, princess?"

Her entire body tensed.

She turned sharply to see Jungkook leaning against a stone pillar, arms crossed, his expression the picture of amusement. He must have followed her.

"Do you ever leave me alone?" Lisa snapped.

Jungkook shrugged. "Not when you look this angry. It's entertaining."

Lisa took a slow breath, forcing herself not to throw a dagger at his head. "You crossed a line today, Jungkook."

His smirk didn't falter. "And which line was that? The one you already blurred when you kissed me back?"

Lisa stepped forward, her golden eyes blazing. "The Mating Clause, you bastard."

Jungkook's smirk faded slightly, his gaze darkening. "It's our right. We're fated mates, Lisa. Or are you still in denial?"

Lisa hated the way his voice curled around her name, like he was savoring it.

"I will never accept it," she hissed.

Jungkook tilted his head, watching her. Then, in the blink of an eye, he moved.

One moment, he was leaning against the pillar. The next, he was right in front of her, caging her between his arms.

Lisa's breath caught.

His scent—smoky and electric—wrapped around her like a spell. His wings flared slightly behind him, a silent reminder of the difference between them.

"I wonder," Jungkook murmured, his fingers brushing the side of her throat, where her pulse was betraying her, "if I kissed you right now, would you still pretend to hate me?"

Lisa refused to be weak.

She met his gaze and smirked. "Try it and find out."

Jungkook's eyes flickered with something dangerous.

But he didn't kiss her.

Instead, he leaned in until his lips were just beside her ear and whispered, "Not yet."

Then, just to taunt her, he dragged his fingers down her arm before stepping back, his expression unreadable.

Lisa exhaled sharply, her heart hammering.

Jungkook chuckled. "You're fun when you're angry, princess."

Lisa clenched her fists. "You should be very afraid of what I'm about to do next."

Jungkook grinned, his fangs flashing. "Good. I like a challenge."

Then he turned and walked away, leaving Lisa standing in the training grounds, her entire body burning.

This was war.

And Lisa never lost a war.
