"I'm going out, Danny." Your older brother looked up from his book, giving you a quizzical look. "Where you going, _____?"

"The river," you answered while grabbing onto your bag and swinging it over your shoulder. "Going to look for more shells. Or rocks. Or maybe I'll just draw. Depends. " He nodded and gave you a small wave. This was his signal that it was fine for you to leave, so you waved back and dashed out the door.

Your [h/c] hair flew behind you as you ran down the old path that led from your house and into the woods that loomed behind it. The sun was high up in the sky, a few clouds scattered about as well. You took one last glimpse of it before entering the trees.

These woods were your favorite place to go. You would come here when you were happy, sad, mad, confused...or just wanted to. There was something comforting about the way the shadows caressed your body as you went step by step, the twigs and leaves giving a satisfying crunch! under your feet. The time that you didn't spend here, you were either reading, drawing, or goofing off on the internet. All very efficient pastimes, you decided.

"What to do, what to do," you mumbled, looking around. After a few minutes of standing in the same spot, you finally began down the way to the river. You had decided you would sit on your usual log and sketch something out.

Once you arrived to your destination, you went straight to the log and sat down your bag. You knelt down to get out your supplies when you saw something twinkle from the corner of your eye. You turned your head in that direction, which was where the water was. Realization struck you, causing you to giggle. "Must've been the light."

You finished getting situated, but before your pencil could even touch the paper, a body shaking explosion filled your ears and knocked you over. You struggled to sit back up, so you had to use the log to help you regain balance. Everything was smokey and...wet? Had it rained? Perhaps it was just thunder, and lightning struck you. It was then that you noticed the strange contraption in the middle of the water. Upon closer inspection, you realized it was a capsule...or something. There was tons of black smoke and shocks of electricity surrounding it.

"Huh..." You nervously got closer, trying to investigate it more. "That's stran..." your voice trailed off as you spotted a person through the tinted glass. "OH GOD."

Without a second thought, you were already diving into the water. The icy cold liquid made you gasp, and you almost lost your concentration. You were well aware of how strong this current was, which was why you never got in. Until now, of course. The machine was beginning to sink, along with whoever was inside of it, so you gritted your teeth and pushed forward.

Once you reached it, you began looking for a way in. You could now see that it was a girl inside, an unconscious one at that. She had a triangle afro-like do, but that was the only distinctive feature you could make out at the moment. The top suddenly popped open, almost making you fall over. You clung on for dear life, slowly inching your way toward the opening. By this time, the water was already pouring into the inside. Without really looking, you reached inside and tugged on the girl's arm to lift her up. You were pleasantly surprised to discover that she was very light, so you were able to lift her out easily. Except for you were pulling a bit too hard and plunged the two of you into the water. Good job.

Your grip on the girl tightened immediately by reflex, thankfully. Pulling her closer, you began to swim back to the bank. It seemed so close, yet so far...oh wait you're on the ground. Your breaths were deep as you lied on your back, staring up at the top of the trees. "We...we made it..." Exhaustion overtook you as you drifted off, faintly hearing your name being called.

"_____!" Someone called out your name. You gasped and shot up, sweat dripping down your face like a waterfall.

"Oh, thank god," a familiar voice sighed happily. Danny was sitting in a chair by your bed, which you were now laying in. You looked around slowly, trying to register what was going on. "What happened..."

"I heard this loud crash or something," he started, sitting up straighter,"and I, being the great brother I am, ran over as fast as humanly possible. When I got there, you were passed out and soaked. Also, you were gripping onto this." He reached into his pocket and pulled out a light green rock, observing it.

"A green rock?" You raised a brow, staring at it. Danny shot you a quick glare, sighed, and handed it to you. "It's not just a rock. It's a peridot. A gem." You mouthed an "O" and began observing the gem for yourself. It was shaped like a triangle, and shined gently in the soft glow of your room. Triangle...triangle girl.

"The girl!" You snapped, trying to hop out of bed. "Is she alright? I have to--"

"Whoa, whoa!" Your brother put a hand on your shoulder. "Calm down. What girl?" You stared at him with utter disbelief.

"The girl that was in the weird ship thingy and had weird Dorito hair and--"

"Whoa, whoa, whoa! Wow. Okay, sounds like you hit your head," he chuckled. "Get some rest. I'll be up to check on you later." He left the room, closing the door behind him. You stared at the door for a moment before letting out an exaggerated sigh and flopped back. You reran the moments at the river in your head, trying to remember what the girl looked like. But you hadn't really looked at her, other than through the glass of the...thing. Now that you actually thought about it, it all sounded extremely ridiculous. Maybe you did hit your head and had dreamt it all. But that didn't explain the gem.

You held it over your face, looking at each detail. It seemed and felt very smooth, and the way the light reflected off of it made you feel...happy. You especially liked it because green was one of your favorite colors, next to [color]. You decided that you just didn't remember picking it up, and that you found it by chance. You set it down on your desk, turned off your lamp, and snuggled into your covers, once again drifting off to sleep.
