I don't think. I react.
The second I see Minho's men moving in, I grab Jisoo's wrist and bolt.
"Go—now!" I shout.
But it's too late.
Two black SUVs screech to a stop at the warehouse entrance. Doors fly open. Men in suits pour out, guns drawn.
Jisoo jerks away from me.
"Run, Taehyung!" she shouts, shoving me backward.
And then—they're on her.
I lunge forward, but a heavy fist slams into my ribs.
Pain explodes through me.
I hit the pavement hard, gasping for air.
Jisoo struggles against them, kicking and thrashing. "Let me go!"
A man grabs her by the collar, dragging her backward.
I force myself to my feet, stumbling forward—
A sharp, metallic click.
I freeze.
A gun. Pointed at my head.
The man holding it tilts his head, smirking. "Don't do anything stupid, kid."
I stare down the barrel, my breath ragged. My hands ball into fists, rage boiling in my veins.
Jisoo's eyes meet mine. There's fear in them—but also something else.
Resignation.
She knew this would happen.
Before I can move, the door to one of the SUVs slams shut.
Jisoo is inside.
The car peels away.
I watch helplessly as she disappears into the night.
And I can't do a damn thing.
-----
I don't know how long I stay there.
The SUV's taillights fade into the distance, and I'm still standing in the same spot.
Blood drips from my temple. My ribs ache. But none of that matters.
She's gone.
A hand clamps down on my shoulder.
I whirl around, my fist flying.
Jungkook catches it mid-air.
"Enough," he says.
I shove him away, rage blinding me. "Where are they taking her?!"
Jungkook doesn't react. He just stares at me, eyes unreadable. "Where do you think?"
My stomach turns to ice.
Minho.
I grab Jungkook by the collar, shoving him against the warehouse wall. "Take me to him."
Jungkook lets out a humorless laugh. "You think it's that easy?"
I slam him harder. "Take. Me. To. Him."
His expression hardens. "If you go there now, you'll die before you even step foot inside."
I grit my teeth. "Then what do you suggest? I just stand here and do nothing while he—"
"I'll handle it," Jungkook cuts in.
I freeze.
His face is unreadable, but there's something in his voice—something dangerous.
I let go of his shirt, stepping back. "Why would you help?"
Jungkook adjusts his collar, his expression darkening.
"Because," he mutters, "I have my own reasons to want my father dead."
----
Somewhere in the city...
Jisoo sits in a dimly lit room, hands tied behind her back.
Her head throbs from where they shoved her into the car. Blood drips from a cut on her lip.
Across from her, at a sleek, polished desk, sits Baek Minho.
He's older than she remembers, his hair now streaked with gray. But his presence is still the same—heavy, suffocating.
He steeples his fingers, watching her.
"You never should have come back, Jisoo."
She glares at him. "Didn't have much of a choice."
Minho chuckles. "You always had a choice."
Jisoo exhales sharply, forcing herself to stay calm.
She knows how this works.
Minho doesn't act on impulse. He calculates. He waits.
Which means...
"If you were going to kill me, I'd be dead already," she mutters.
His lips curve into a slow, knowing smile. "Smart girl."
He leans forward.
"Let's make a deal, shall we?"
----
Jungkook and I sit in his car, parked outside a run-down motel.
"You want to kill him," I say.
Jungkook doesn't deny it.
"You have no idea what he's done," he mutters.
I clench my fists. "He took Jisoo."
Jungkook exhales sharply. "Then we get her back."
I stare at him. "And how do you suggest we do that?"
Jungkook's green eyes flicker under the dim light. "We do something my father never expects."
I frown. "And that is?"
Jungkook smirks.
"We betray him first."
