Newt x Thomas | The Maze Runner | Newtmas

Newt opened the Box to find a brunette boy scared and crying.

They pulled the boy from the Box. He began to run, to where? He did not know, he felt an overwhelming urge to run so he did.

He tripped.

     He sat up. He cheeks flushed red of embarrassment. Newt walked over to him. The boy scurried backward afraid and confused.

     "Woah. I'm not gonna hurt you Green Bean."

     He looked up confused. "Green Bean?"

     "Yeah Green Bean. You're the new Green Bean. Until you can remember your name that's what we'll call you."

The boy looked around in utter disbelief and confusion. He couldn't believe what was before his eyes. 'What are these walls?' He thought. 'What's behind them?' He finally got the courage to ask Newt all his questions.

"Newt?" He spoke up.

Newt turned to face the boy. "Yeah?"

"What is this place? Why am i here?"

Newt sighed. "Listen Greenie. We don't know. We just survive and try to solve the maze. It's all a mystery. I can't answer those questions because I nor anyone else knows only the Creators do."

The boy sighed in frustration.

Newt noticed his frustration. "Hey how about we go get some food from Frypan?"

The boy nodded.

They headed over to the cafeteria. Newt couldn't help but stare at the boy. He was so beautiful. He seems so kind. 'I like him' Newt thought. He knew he wanted to be his friend.

They grabbed two sandwiches and two water bottles from Frypan. Frypan was a little irritated that they were grabbing food so late during the day.

They sat down under a tree. There was an awkward silence that seems to last an eternity. Newt finally spoke up. "So..." He thought of the next words to say trying not to sound too eager. "I'm Newt by the way"

The boy looked up. "Nice to meet you Newt" He smiled.

Newt smiled right back at him. Newt was just so eager to get to know the boy. He was not sure why, he just felt a connection to him. Almost like he's known the boy forever, he seemed so familiar.

The boy tilted his head up, he opens his eyes wide like in shock. "Tho-" he paused. "Thomas! My name is Thomas!"

He stood up. Newt stood up with him. Thomas turned to face Newt. He laughed in excitement. "I remember my name!" Newt smiled at him. Thomas suddenly without warned hugged Newt in excitement.

Newt was taken aback. He hugged Thomas right back. 'Wow. This is nice' he thought whole hugging Thomas. Thomas pulled back. He tapped Newts shoulders.

"Oh i'm sorry." He apologized.

Newt looked at him in awe. "It okay. I don't mind."

They sat back down. They finished eating their sandwiches. Not in awkward silence, but it was calm, peaceful, almost welcoming.
