Previously:

"Daddy's gone mad, hasn't he?" Dudley piped up, his voice oddly calm for the chaos unfolding around us.

......

The rumble of the thunder from outside made the walls of the lighthouse shake, like the storm itself was trying to push in. Vernon had insisted this would be the safest place to hide from "them" whatever that meant. It was infuriating.

Harry and I were lying side by side on the cold, dusty floor, exhaustion weighing us down. I glanced over at him, seeing the faint glow from the distant storm flicker in his eyes. His hand moved to the sand, tracing a crude image.

"Y/N, look," he murmured softly.

I followed his gaze to the small 'cake' he'd drawn in the sand, complete with our names scrawled messily around it. It was a sad attempt at normalcy, but in that moment, it was the most beautiful thing I'd seen all night.

Harry's eyes flicked to Dudley's beeping watch, and I saw the soft glow showing it was "12 AM." "Happy birthday, sis," he said with a quiet smile, his words carrying the weight of everything we had to endure together.

I couldn't help but return it, despite the circumstances. "Happy birthday to you too, brother." A heavy silence settled between us before Harry whispered, "Make a wish and blow out the 'candles.'"

I closed my eyes tightly, making the one wish that had been on my mind for so long: freedom. I wished with every fiber of my being for us to be free from this wretched life free from the lies and the cages they kept us in.

"Ready?" Harry asked, voice soft but hopeful. I nodded, and we both blew out the 'candles' in the sand. For a fleeting moment, it felt like time had stopped, as if we were allowed just one second of peace.

Then the silence was shattered by a loud thump, followed by another. My heart stopped, and instinctively, we both jumped to our feet. The door thumped again, a heavy, unnerving sound that made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end.

We backed away slowly, not sure what was coming next. Dudley, the coward, huddled in the far corner, his eyes wide and unblinking, his hands gripping the windowsill for dear life.

I caught sight of Harry slipping behind a pillar, his breath quick and shallow. I stayed still, heart pounding, unsure if moving would help or just make things worse. The thumps continued louder now, more desperate. Each one felt like a hammer on my chest, and I knew that something or someone was trying to get through.

The door suddenly burst open, and there, standing in the frame, was Vernon, holding a double-barrel shotgun in his shaking hands. His eyes were wide, his voice trembling as he barked, "Who's there?"

Before anyone could answer, a loud, echoing thud rattled the walls. A massive figure stepped into the doorway, blocking out the dim light from outside. I could barely make out his silhouette at first, but then, as he stepped fully into the room, I could see him clearly a giant of a man, towering and broad-shouldered, with wild, bushy hair and an even wilder beard. There was something oddly familiar about him, though I couldn't place it right away.

"Ah! Sorry about that," he boomed in a deep, warm voice, casually lifting the door off its hinges like it weighed no more than a feather.

Vernon froze, eyes narrowing. The gun was aimed directly at the man now, his face twisted in a mix of confusion and anger. "I demand that you leave at once, sir! You are breaking and entering!" he shouted, his voice a mix of authority and sheer panic.

Petunia gasped, her hand flying to her mouth, eyes wide with disbelief. But the giant didn't seem phased. He took a slow, measured step forward and, without a second thought, grabbed the barrel of Vernon's gun, twisting it effortlessly. With a loud creak, the barrel was angled upwards, pointing at the ceiling.
