I glanced at him, noting how he'd grown taller over the summer. His features were sharper now, but the arrogance was unchanged. "Leave him alone!" I blinked in surprise as Ginny suddenly stepped between us, her eyes burning with anger. She had been quiet this whole time, but now she stood her ground, glaring up at Malfoy.
Draco's smirk widened as he turned his gaze to Harry instead."Oh, look, Potter—you've got yourself a girlfriend."
.....
Suddenly, a hand patted Draco's shoulder, pushing him slightly aside. "Now, now, Draco. Play nicely," a smooth, cold voice drawled. I looked up to see a tall man with long, sleek blonde hair, dressed in elegant black robes. His presence was unnervingly calm, but his sharp gray eyes held something calculating.
"Mr. and Ms. Potter," he said, stepping forward with a false politeness. "Lucius Malfoy. We meet at last." He extended a gloved hand towards Harry, who hesitated before shaking it. "Forgive me," Lucius murmured, suddenly pulling Harry forward. With a deliberate motion, he lifted his cane and brushed Harry's hair aside with the silver serpent head.
My expression remained unchanged, my cold stare locked onto him the entire time. "Your scar is legendary," he said smoothly. "As, of course, is the wizard who gave it to you both. "Voldemort murdered our parents," Harry said firmly.
I didn't break my glare, my voice just as cold. "He was nothing more than a murderer." Lucius studied us for a moment before finally releasing Harry, his face unreadable. Harry straightened up beside me, and I didn't look away, matching Lucius Malfoy's icy demeanor with my own.
"You must be very brave to mention his name," he said, turning his gaze to Harry. He continued, "Or very foolish." Before I could respond, Hermione spat back, "Fear of a name only increases fear of the thing itself." Lucius turned to Hermione, his expression twisted in disgust. "And you must be Miss Granger?" he asked, glancing at Malfoy for confirmation. I saw Draco nod.
Turning back to Hermione, Lucius spoke in a honeyed yet insincere tone, "Yes, Draco has told me all about you." 'So, he does complain about the whiny little thing to his father,' I thought to myself. Lucius then shifted his attention to Hermione's parents, who were engaged in conversation with someone else. "And your parents... Muggles, aren't they?" he added, his voice laced with disdain.
He then turned to Ron. "Let me see... red hair, vacant expression," he sneered before snatching a book from Ginny's hands. "Tatty, secondhand book... You must be the Weasleys." Mr. Weasley approached, smiling as he said, "Children, it's mad in here. Let's go outside." Lucius interrupted, his voice dripping with mockery. "Well, well, Weasley Senior." "Lucius," Mr. Weasley acknowledged him curtly.
"Busy times at the Ministry, Arthur? All those extra raids?" Lucius mused. "I do hope they're paying you overtime. But judging by the state of this..." He gestured around disapprovingly. "I'd say not. What's the use of being a disgrace to the name of wizard if they don't even pay you well for it?" he muttered. Mr. Weasley, though visibly fuming, replied calmly, "We have very different ideas about what disgraces the name of wizard, Malfoy."
"Clearly," Lucius scoffed, glancing around the store. "Associating with Muggles." He handed the book back to Ginny. "And here I thought your family couldn't sink any lower. I'll see you at work," he added before turning to leave. Malfoy followed close behind, throwing a smug glance our way. "See you at school," he muttered, clearly trying to mimic his father's arrogance.
"So unfortunate," I mumbled under my breath.
......
We all ran toward the station as the clock ticked closer to departure. "10:58! Come on, come on!" Mr. Weasley urged, rushing us forward. "The train will be leaving any moment!" Mrs. Weasley added, her voice filled with worry. "Fred, George, Percy—you first!" Mr. Weasley instructed, and the three boys sprinted forward, disappearing between platforms nine and ten. Ginny followed right after them.
