The rain had been falling relentlessly since morning, and now, as evening settled, it showed no signs of stopping. The sound of raindrops hitting the windows filled my apartment, creating a dull rhythm that matched my thoughts.

I had slept in late today, exhausted—not just from work, but from everything. The emotional chaos, the confusion, the unspoken words between me and Roohani.

I sat by my bedroom window, sipping coffee, watching the dark clouds roll over the city. The streets below were slick with rain, headlights reflecting off the wet pavement. I let out a deep sigh, my mind drifting back to her.

What was she doing right now?

Was she still locked away in her office, drowning herself in work?

Was she sitting alone in that penthouse of hers, staring at nothing, refusing to let herself grieve?

I shook my head, trying to push the thoughts away.

I grabbed the remote and turned on the TV, flipping through channels mindlessly—until I landed on the news.

And then, everything stopped.

The coffee cup slipped from my hands, crashing onto the floor.

But I didn’t even flinch.

Because the words flashing across the screen had frozen me in place.

"Business tycoon Indira Singhania, matriarch of the Singhania family, passed away one month ago. The family has officially disclosed the news today, citing privacy during their period of mourning."

The air in my lungs disappeared.

Indira Singhania… Roohani’s dadi.

She was gone.

And suddenly, everything made sense.

Her one-month absence.

The way she came back colder than ever.

The way she shut everyone out.

The Code Reds.

She had lost the only person she loved in that family.

And I—I had no idea.

I had no idea she was suffering.

I had ignored her, walked away from her, accused her of playing me, when all this time… she had been grieving.

And then, as if the universe wanted to twist the knife in deeper, I saw the date on the news screen.

The same day I went on that blind date.

The same night I had been out with some random girl, trying to forget about her, while she had been dealing with the biggest loss of her life.

She hadn’t called me.
