Fred and George Weasley had always done basically everything together their whole lives—never a day apart and always sharing everything, whether bad or good.
Most people didn't even refer to them as two separate people. They were simply called The Twins, as if there was nothing more to them than being halves of the same whole. That sometimes hurt, but they got used to it.
However, spending the whole night preparing everything for Daisy's inauguration was one of those moments when they truly appreciated having each other—four hands were better than two, especially when there was so much to do.
Fred took care of the invitations, using magic to send hundreds of letters out their windows to reach the guests as quickly as possible. He even used Harry's name to get journalists to come too—they'd only be there to take pictures of the golden boy.
George nearly emptied their entire shop to improvise some decorations, grabbing as many balloons as possible, enchanted miniature fireworks that would pop on the ceiling when a customer walked in, and whatever fun objects he could scatter around the bakery.
Even though they were more tired than ever before, they were fairly satisfied with what they managed to prepare in such a short amount of time. They could already imagine Daisy's dark expression melting when she found out about the surprise.
In the end, the twins talked deeply about the past days with her, sharing more than they had promised not to. But they couldn't help it. To truly understand Daisy, they had to tell each other everything, piecing together the puzzle of her personality.
When they talked about their individual dates, it didn't feel as weird as they had anticipated—Fred felt extremely happy knowing his brother had made her laugh all night, and George was amused to learn Daisy had a jealous, possessive moment.
Then, while exchanging their opinions on the night at Harry and Ginny's, they started growing more comfortable than ever before. It felt odd, talking about the same girl this way, but apparently, not as strange as they had feared.
"I can't wait to see her reaction," George smirked as they carried two boxes of decorations toward her bakery.
"She will kill us for inviting that many people," Fred cooed, trying to open the shop door, but it was still locked. "Huh, that's weird."
They glanced down at their watches. It was nearly eight in the morning—and Sunday—she was supposed to already be behind the counter, greeting customers. The streets of Diagon Alley were quickly filling up.
George used the spare key Daisy had given them in case of emergency. When they stepped inside the bakery and set the boxes on the floor, the lights were off, there was no smell of fresh baked goods, and the quiet air made them instantly uneasy.
After locking the door again, making sure no one could enter the empty shop, they made their way up to her apartment, knocking at first. When she didn't answer, they burst in—wands raised, anticipating the worst.
Even there, the place was dim. All the shutters were drawn, making it almost impossible to see, but they managed to catch each other's concerned expressions even in the dark. They walked carefully around the apartment, but there was no sign of Daisy.
"You think that..." George hissed as they approached her bedroom.
"No way. Nothing happened to her," Fred said firmly, trying to convince himself.
