Jay-jay's POV

Aries was just so weird. He didn't even tell me that Angelo was at home, which was why he came to get me. Good thing Angelo had no questions.

The next day, Aries gave me a ride in his car on the way to school. As usual, he wasn't talking. I was looking at the window when I saw Ci-N walking, wearing a headset, with his hands inside his pockets.

"Stop the—ouch!" I hadn't finished my sentence when he stepped on the brakes. I wasn't wearing a seatbelt, so I ended up stumbling.

"What the fuck?! Do you really need to shout?!" he reprimanded.

Good thing there wasn't a car behind us.

"I'm okay here," I said and stepped out of the car. I didn't even wait for what he had to say and just ran toward Ci-N.

"Hey, Ci-N!" I said, slapping his arm.

He shot a deadly glare, but when he realized it was me, he smiled, removed his headset, and greeted, "Good morning!"

Ah, that smile again.

I was ready to scold him when I noticed the bruises on his face. His lips were wounded and quite swollen. There were bruises on the right corner of his lips and the side of his left eye. His left cheek had scratches.

"Oh no, Ci! Why is your face all wounded?"

"I-I fell on a bike," he replied, rubbing his nape.

Fell on a bike?! Was he serious? He was clearly involved in a fight!

"Really, huh" was all I said, then we continued treading the way to school.

"How's class?" he asked.

Just fine. They're getting crazier.

"Still the same, except that they've been ignoring me for a week already."

"Huh?!"

"I'll explain," I said, coughing to ready my voice. "My middle name is Fernandez." That was all that I said to see if he'd get a hint, but Ci-N was a bit slow.

"And then?"

Maybe Ci-N wasn't aware that Aries was a Fernandez. "Aries is my cousin," I quickly went to the point.

"Ah—" He stopped and thought of something.

I knew this would happen. "So, are you going to ignore and avoid me too?"

He smiled. "Of course I won't. I'll pretend I don't know the issue."

Ci-N's smile was contagious, so I couldn't help but flash a smile too.

We continued walking until we arrived at school. I even saw Aries leaning against his car, his arms crossed over his chest. He was glaring at me, but I avoided my gaze. I couldn't blame him because I stepped out of his car without a word.

We were near our building when Ci-N suddenly stopped. He was looking at the guy resting on a tree branch.

"Who's that?" I asked.

"That's Calix. He's our classmate, don't you recall?"

I couldn't see his face since his back was turned to us, and I also didn't know his name. But when I looked closely, I realized that he was indeed our classmate.

"What a hard-headed guy. As if he didn't literally break his leg when he hung around there the other time," Ci-N added.

"Why? What happened?" I asked, intrigued.
