"Liv! You know Iris will kill you if she finds it out!"
"Pretty much" I said easily, popping another grape into my mouth.
"And you do realize you're making me a part of this, right?"
"Well... Pretty much"
"And you do know Iris will kill me if she finds out I knew, right?"
"Pretty much"
"Olivia!"
"What is it Conan?"
He sighed and sank further into my chair in front of my desk, shoulders slumped. He put his hands behind his head and shook them from side to side, almost in fear, as if disaster were imminent and he knew it.
"I think this is a really, really bad idea, Liv. You're not leaving anyway, what's it to you about his house shopping?"
Yes, you heard that right. Kaden and I are meeting at IKEA in an hour, to buy stuff for his house. Of course, that's the reason he knows. Mine is to talk to him, to perhaps experience the last moments we spent without fighting.
It's been three weeks since I sent him the message that we should talk when he got back to Los Angeles. My fingers were spinning on the keyboard for minutes before I sent it. But I mustered up all my courage and sent him a message weeks later. When he replied a few minutes later with a message that said, Okay, I'll let you know when I'll be back," my shoulders, slumped in stress, relaxed a little.
He had started looking at suitable homes online before he arrived. When he said he wouldn't be staying at his parents' house again, he was obviously serious and took action. He bought a house that wasn't very big but spacious. It was about ten minutes from my house and was designed with furniture that had never been used. So all that was left was to pack his personal belongings and move in, and that's what we're going to do today.
The idea was actually mine, he said he was going shopping and that we could meet tomorrow. But when I said I could help him if he wanted, he agreed without objection.
"I'm going to try to get answers from him, Conan, how many times have I told you this?"
"Kaden and getting answers... Pff, Liv, he always avoids answering questions he doesn't want. You know that best, and the questions you're probably going to ask to get answers are going to be of that nature. Why are you prolonging it? Break up so everyone can relax."
