Chapter 61
At last, the Avengers succeeded in bringing the police to the location mentioned in the letter, Plan B. The police arrested all the men hired by Awais, while a search party was sent out to find Awais himself.
Amidst the chaos, Salaar anxiously scanned the crowd, searching for Zarmeena. His heart pounded until his eyes finally landed on her, celebrating with the Avengers. A wave of relief washed over him, he had saved her, the love of his life.
Without wasting a second, he strode toward her. He wanted to take her to the hospital to flush out the remaining poison in her system. He didn’t believe that the insane man, driven by vengeance, had left Zarmeena unharmed.Noticing Salaar approaching, Zarmeena let out a beaming smile. That smile, it wasn’t just joy; it carried an unspoken acknowledgment of the feelings he had always held alone. But today, for the first time, he felt he wasn’t alone in this fire. She, too, had been consumed by it.
Salaar quickened his pace, eager to reach her, when suddenly, Zarmeena's expression changed. A sharp pain shot through her stomach, and she staggered before collapsing to the ground.
Salaar froze for a second, his mind unable to comprehend what had just happened. Then panic surged through him. He ran toward her and gathered her in his arms.
Zarmeena gasped for air, her breathing turning shallow and ragged.
"Zarmeena... What happened?" Salaar's voice trembled with fear.
"Please... please say something... Someone, bring an ambulance!" he cried out desperately.
Everyone rushed toward them.
Ahmed, Sajid, and Jawad pushed through the crowd, their faces stricken with worry.
"What happened to Zaro?" Ahmed's voice faltered at the sight of his sibling in distress.
"Zaro, stay strong! We won’t let anything happen to you!" Sajid urged, his eyes brimming with emotion. As her best friend, he understood the silent message in her gaze, how could he not?
"Zaro, please don’t... don’t leave us!" Little Ahmed couldn't hold back his sobs.
Sajid’s desperation grew. "Salaar can’t wait for an ambulance. Take her to the police jeep, Inspector sir will drive her to the hospital!"
Without hesitation, Salaar scooped Zarmeena into his arms and ran toward the jeep. Instead of placing her in the back seat, he climbed in himself, holding her close. The inspector took the driver's seat and sped toward the hospital.
"Mr. Salaar, don’t let her fall asleep, or the poison will spread faster!" the inspector warned.
Salaar’s grip on her tightened. "Zarmeena, stay awake! Talk to me, please... I’m scared, scared of losing you!" His voice was hoarse with tears. "I could bear your hatred, your anger... but not a life without you. You are my everything!"
Zarmeena’s eyes fluttered open slightly. Her voice was frail, barely a whisper. "Salaar... I’m sorry... I didn’t mean those words I said..."
Salaar shook his head, his tears falling freely. "But I meant each and every word I said. I have loved you since the moment I saw you on that bike. I never broke free from that spell, Zarmeena... But it was my misfortune that I never found a way into your heart."
Zarmeena took a deep, shuddering breath, her breathing growing more irregular.
"Salaar... It was never your misfortune..." she whispered weakly. "It was mine... I wasted all those moments... blaming you..."
Her voice faded, her strength draining. Drowsiness overtook her senses.
"Zarmeena, no! Stay with me! Talk to me!" Salaar pleaded, his panic intensifying.
