Hidden Within

My First Period!

"Thank you..." I said as they were leaving to which they replied with a smile.

"Oh and Zoe? If you wake up in the middle of the night, change your pad, otherwise just change it first thing tomorrow morning." Rama pointed at the pads she'd put on my desk as she was closing the door behind her.

"Okay... I'll buy my own tomorrow, sorry for using yours." I apologized to Rama before she closed the door.

"Oh no these are yours, I bought them for you the other day but didn't want to tell you so that you take things slowly. Don't worry." She replied.

".... Thank you.. " I said with a small smile on my face. She returned my smile and left my room closing the door behind her.

I got undressed and then wore my yellow pajamas once more and drifted off to sleep.

Narration:

As Rama and Mackie each headed to their rooms to change to their pajamas, both were deep in thought as to how they can help Zoe navigate her period as smoothly as possible. Since, as opposed to them who got it when they were much younger and had the guidance of their mothers, she was forced to go through it in her twenties and without any help if they didn't offer anything. 

'Usually chocolate makes me forget about the pain for a while, I wonder if it's gonna be the same for Zack..' Mackie thought. 

Mackie wore her yellow pajamas while Rama wore red pajamas. It wasn't that late yet, as it was only 9:30 pm, so Rama decided to watch some TV for a while. Mackie went to the kitchen and poured two glasses of mango juice and gave Rama one as she sat beside her to watch the TV as well.

After around an hour or so, Zoe woke up, slightly bothered by her stomachache and also needing the toilet. So she rushed out and finished her business. As she exited the bathroom, she noticed the light of the TV on. She went out and found out that both Rama and Mackie fell asleep, with no heater turned on, and no blankets.

Zoe's pov:

As I saw them both sleeping outside with no source of warmth, I immediately decided to bring them their blankets. I got into Mackie's room, her worn clothes from today were still on the bed but folded. So I put them to the side and took her blanket on my shoulder. The perfume on her blanket was quite unique and smelled rather nice, I may ask her about it later to buy one for myself.

Next I entered Rama's room and this time her clothes were also on the bed but not folded. I folded them just like Mackie's clothes and took her blanket on my other shoulder. I went out, put each of their blankets on them as slowly and calmly on them so that I don't wake them up, then brought the heater closer to them, turned off the TV and went back to my room once again. It didn't take me long to fall asleep once more.

Thursday

I woke up the next morning slightly better than last night but still my stomach was a bit upset. I looked at the time on my phone and it said 6:47 am. I knew I had some time before I had to leave for university but got up nonetheless. I sat up but kept sitting on the edge of the bed for a couple of minutes, recalibrating myself before standing up.

I checked the date even though I knew approximately what day it was, and it was the 29th of October. 

"So still around 8 months before I graduate... I think I should talk with the dean or something so that I can take the finals without any troubles.. " I thought to myself as I stared at my phone's screen.
