Suguru snatches the magazine out of his hands, then makes a point of burying it under the stack of textbooks piled on your desk, where he's certain Satoru won't dare to look. Satoru even makes a face, realizing it's far more trouble than it's worth.
"Fine," Satoru shrugs. "National Geographic it is, then."
"Just ignore him," you dismiss, but ignoring Satoru is the easy part. Ignoring his own thoughts on the other hand, is much more difficult. Suguru can't help but feel foolish. It's juvenile to dwell on an incident like that. It was an honest mistake. You were so caught up in the moment that you didn't even realize what was happening. Besides, it's not like he saw anything crazy, or unexpected. It's a normal, natural part of the human body. You're a girl, and girls just happen to have those. Big deal.
Then again, he is a fifteen-year-old boy, which makes it rather challenging to be as mature as he'd like.
"Ooh, zebras," Satoru excitedly says, sinking into his new magazine with ease.
Suguru rolls his eyes again. At least he's not that immature.
"It looks like you made a small calculation error when you were doing one step of your unit conversions," you say, lightly tapping your pencil against the page.
"...oh. You're right," Suguru chuckles sheepishly. "I guess I didn't take the time to check properly. My bad."
"No worries," you reply, with a smile so bright that sometimes, it's hard to believe it's actually real.
It's true that Suguru didn't review his work as thoroughly as he could have, but he finds himself wondering if it was a simple slip of the mind, or if he deliberately didn't check just because he wanted an excuse to talk to you.
That would be pretty childish of him though, so it's probably not the latter. Probably.
"[Name], I'm already starting to get bored of looking at pictures of animals," Satoru frowns. "Can I get the other magazine back? It was way more interesting. I also saw a quiz in there that's supposed to match me to a bikini that complements my body type. I didn't even get the chance to do it yet."
"I'll help you pick out a bikini another time, Satoru," you say.
"Really? Do you promise?"
"Of course."
Satoru starts clapping his hands and cheering obnoxiously. In response, Suguru slumps his head against the desk and lets out a frustrated groan, and meanwhile, Shoko fiddles with the wrapper of her lollipop, barely biting back a grin.
Working as a jujutsu sorcerer is a scary job, and she's never really been the bravest of the bunch to begin with, but...
As long as she gets to stay with all of you, then maybe she'll try a bit harder from now on.
"Shoko, are you sure you want to be here?" you frown. "Yaga said neither of us are required to go on all the missions. I plan on being here every time, but if you don't want to, you don't have to come along. I think it'd actually be better for you to stay behind sometimes. That way, if anything happens to me, Jujutsu High will still have a healer."
"I feel okay with this group," she shrugs. "I'm not a good fighter, but those two sure are. If I'm going to go with anyone, I'd rather it be you three."
"Well... alright. If you say so."
You suppose it's better to have two healers present than one. There's always the very real possibility that you might die, though. It's your natural instinct to protect everyone, and that includes Shoko. But perhaps you shouldn't get too conceited. Shoko isn't helpless. She's more than capable of looking after herself. Actually, everyone here is capable of looking after themselves. Well, not counting the fact that you're single-handedly your own worst enemy.
