He wasn't there but then where was he? Wasn't he with them? Her stomach twisted painfully. If he was in danger—if she was too late...she shook her head, her jaw tightening. No. She would find him. She had to. He couldn't be far. Somehow he must've either never reached Lo'ak before he was captured or was simply separated from them. But she knew him, he wouldn't leave his siblings abandoned. Neteyam is going to show up, is going to be the hero as he always is, but she'll be ready. She'll be watching his siblings closely until he shows up so she can finally lose the knot in her chest.
The skimwing let out another sharp cry, sensing her newfound determination, and together they raced forward, carving through the endless blue. Her plan was to take a trip around the ship, scanning at a safe distance while hoping she'd miraculously find Neteyam. If she had no luck, she'd just wait to see how things turned out, highly expecting for things to become chaotic, before going to free Lo'ak, the tiny one, and her cousin. Already strategizing on asking of his whereabouts while freeing them.
Yet as she made her way around, staying near the sandy bottom, a bizarre sight startled her. A Tulkun was thrashing around on the oceans ground, breaking corals while seemingly having a angry fit. She watched in amazement as the large creature made up his mind, and as she saw it prepare to swim to the surface, directly towards the ship, Vareya began to prepare herself.
Because that wasn't just any Tulkun, it was Payakan. And the boy whom he bonded with was currently in danger on that very ship. Despite her continuous worry for Neteyam, she couldn't stop the smirk that threatened to break. Couldn't stop the smile that plastered her face as she saw the massive figure break through the waters surface and come down on the floating weapon.
He bravely went atop the ship, attacking the humans, finally fighting back. A sight that the Tulkun despise, something that was forbidden. Yet once again, that was one of the benefits of being an outcast.
Taking advantage of their current vulnerability just as the other Metkayina Soldiers above her, they all attacked. Rushing forward with mighty cries and revenge in their hearts, they rushed onwards. Yet to no one's suprise, the demons were quick to fight back themselves.
Although she was deep under water, she was soon startled when everyone else started to dive. But no one seemed to pay her any mind, because they were far too focused on the task at hand.
Hundreds of bullets rained down on them from above, deadly drops that luckily were stopped thanks to the mass water of the ocean. Except some of them struck true, and she herself had to dodge from getting hit, others weren't so lucky.
When one of them got too close to comfort, she decided she could no longer merely wait for Neteyam. Vareya was in this battle now whether she wanted to be or not. And when her eye caught one of the causes of the bullets, a craft so similar to the one that was engraved into her memory, the fear she once felt turned into nothing but blood thirsty rage.
Breaking through the surface and taking air on her skimwing, he got high enough to give her the perfect shot. Letting her arrow fly, her target struck true right on the demons chest. The aircraft went crashing down atop a coral, causing an explosion to happen on impact.
A few several bullets whizzed passed her once again, and she watched as more small ships with weaponry on board were on the water and heading for them.
She growled as she clicked her tongue, diving into the water before jumping out to shoot the soldier on board. Another ship not far from her exploded, and she looked over to see Jake shooting with his own gun in hand. A cry from above sounded loudly, and Vareya only now saw where Neytiri had been all along. She was riding on the same creature they arrived to the island on, seemingly showing that she was the most reluctant to leave her clans ways behind.
