I shifted in Taehyung’s arms, feeling the warmth of his grip still firm around me. The weight of everything that just happened lingered in the air, but I wasn’t about to let it swallow me whole. That wasn’t me.
So, I did what I always did—I tried to lighten the mood.
I wriggled slightly, tilting my head up at him with a cheeky grin. "Okay, okay, I get it. You love me, you’re obsessed with me, can’t live without me—very touching." I patted his chest dramatically. "But if you don’t let me go now, your cold and untouchable image is going to be ruined forever."
I expected him to scoff, roll his eyes, maybe even push me away with one of his usual uninterested expressions.
But he didn’t.
Instead, his grip tightened, his fingers pressing possessively into the fabric of my coat. His voice, when he finally spoke, was dangerously low, smooth, and way too close to my ear.
"Let them see."
I froze.
My breath caught in my throat, my heart skipping a beat—or ten. I pulled back slightly, staring at him, searching his face for any hint of teasing. But he wasn’t joking. Not even a little.
And then, just to make sure my soul left my body, he leaned in even closer, his voice dropping to something deeper, warmer. "Let them see that I don’t care what they think."
I swallowed. Oh. Oh, this backfired.
His lips brushed dangerously close to my ear, his breath sending an uninvited shiver down my spine. "Let them see that you’re the only one who can make the untouchable weak."
I stopped breathing altogether.
My brain short-circuited. My mouth opened, then closed, then opened again like a fish struggling for air. I had words—I knew I had words—but apparently, they had abandoned me in my time of need.
He pulled back slightly, just enough to smirk at me like he hadn’t just shattered my entire existence.
I scowled, cheeks burning. "I—You—" I let out a frustrated groan. "You’re insufferable."
Taehyung hummed, looking completely unbothered. "And you love it."
"I hate it," I grumbled, shoving at his chest weakly. "You’re the worst."
He chuckled, finally loosening his hold—just barely—before grabbing my wrist and leading me further into the convenience store.
"Come on, troublemaker," he said smoothly. "Pick your snacks before you die of embarrassment."
I huffed, snatching a bag of chips off the shelf aggressively. "I regret everything."
Taehyung just smirked, reaching out to ruffle my hair in the most obnoxious way possible. "No, you don’t."
I glared at him. He was right, and I hated that he knew it.
But as we stood there, surrounded by the quiet hum of fluorescent lights and the distant chatter of other customers, I felt it—the weight of the moment shifting. The heaviness from before still lingered, but it wasn’t suffocating anymore.
Because this?
This was us.
With my arms full of snacks, I followed Taehyung out of the store, my steps light while his were as composed as ever. The shift between us was... weird. Not in a bad way, just—unnatural, like wearing new shoes that hadn’t been broken in yet.
I mean, this was Taehyung. The same Taehyung who, just a few days ago, wouldn’t have let me cling to him for more than five seconds without shoving me off like an annoying fly. And now? Now he was letting me—no, initiating—this... whatever this was.
