They intend to occupy this place for a long time!
Previously, the adventurers didn't understand the distribution of trolls in the Dark Forest.
They would surely think this was a good opportunity for the Bay Territory to expand outward.
But now, almost all the adventurers know.
These trolls before them are just a small portion of all trolls; deep within the Dark Forest, there are hundreds of thousands or even more trolls.
Even if they occupy this castle, can they really fend off the attacks of those trolls with just one or two thousand soldiers?
The adventurers of Alice's team couldn't help but fall into deep thought.
"Alright, everyone hurry and rest up; get ready to fight later."
Alice seemed indifferent, calmly instructing her team members to rest.
She had already obtained the battle plan from Angela.
They were going to fight an easy and pleasant ambush!
Chris found Old John, got a bottle of paralysis potion from him, happily shared it with the captain, and whispered quietly:
"The Bay Territory is very determined..."
Blinking thoughtfully, Alice savored his words, recalling Angela's calm expression earlier, and suddenly revealed a bright smile:
"We have the best relationship with the Bay Territory; naturally, we'll fight side by side!"
The two reached an agreement once again, tacitly beginning to make arrangements.
The veteran members of the adventurer team were very obedient to their orders.
But the new members were a bit uneasy.
Chris smiled slightly and leaned over to the new members he had recruited, pointing to the city wall not far away:
"See them?"
On the thick city walls, hundreds of soldiers were busily working.
They were moving heavy crossbows onto the walls and securing them as quickly as possible.
"Heavy crossbows are strictly prohibited for private ownership; each one is registered and valued at 50 gold coins."
"From what we can see, there are 50 units; each bolt is worth 50 silver coins."
"In one battle, each heavy crossbow will shoot at least 10 gold coins' worth..."
"And these heavy crossbows cannot be easily dismantled; if the battle fails, critical parts must be destroyed, and they will all be abandoned."
"Thousands of gold coins just discarded like that?"
The new adventurers gasped, once again witnessing the Bay Territory's wealth.
Chris acted as if he didn't notice and pointed to the busy street.
"That's a small teleportation array, also not to be casually dismantled, each set worth thousands of gold coins..."
The corners of the new adventurers' eyes twitched slightly, scanning their teammates in a daze.
All of their belongings combined were not worth that one small teleportation array.
"Ten stone golems, mid-level alchemical constructs, each worth 5,000 gold coins!"
Their eyes began to twitch; they suddenly felt a bit numb.
"For every 30 soldiers, there's a teleportation scroll; if things go badly, they can retreat directly."
"Each soldier has enchanted armor and weapons and carries at least three healing potions."
"The kind we're familiar with—the Vitality Potion we often use."
"The nutritional potion given to everyone this morning to replenish stamina during escape."
"It's an exclusive potion for Bay Territory soldiers, not yet for sale externally; each person can receive three."
"During battle, the Bay Territory will use combat scrolls based on the actual situation; you know how expensive those are..."
"See that over there? Worth..."
"..."
The more Chris spoke, the more numb the new adventurers became, and the more they understood the Bay Territory's determination in this battle.
Having spent such a significant cost, they certainly weren't joking!
Standing on the watchtower, Matthew calmly listened to the discussion below, carefully calculating the time.
An hour later.
A hunting party of about 1,000 trolls leisurely walked out of the dense forest, preparing to return to the castle.
They chatted and laughed along the way until they found the castle unusually quiet—the gates wide open, and not even a patrolling soldier in sight. Only then did they feel that something was amiss.
At that moment, intense shouts and battle cries emerged from within the castle, faintly mixed with the roars of their troll companions.
The troll hunting party didn't hesitate, put down their harvested prey, and ran toward the city gate.
Then, they crashed headlong into the ambush set by the Bay Territory!
