Author's POV:
Aadhya sat in the back seat of Ekansh's car, her gaze distant, fixed blankly outside the window. Her face was pale, her cheeks stained with the dried remnants of her tears. But her eyes... they were lifeless, devoid of the spark that usually lit them when she was with Ekansh. She wasn't crying anymore, but the hollowness in her expression was far more heartbreaking.
Shanaya sat beside her, her heart shattering a little more with every glance she stole at Aadhya's broken state. This wasn't how it was supposed to be. Dev had told her that he just wanted to meet his sister, to reveal that he was alive after all these years. But this... separating Aadhya from Ekansh? Shanaya hadn't seen this coming. And now, watching the silent tears that no longer fell but were etched into Aadhya's face, Shanaya felt utterly powerless.
Her mind was in turmoil. Dev had always been fiercely protective of Aadhya. It was understandable-after all, he had spent nine years believing he had failed her. But this... this wasn't just protection. This was tearing her apart. Shanaya could see it so clearly, but Dev? He was blinded by his own fears.
Her gaze drifted toward Dev, his hands gripping the steering wheel tighter than necessary, his jaw clenched as if he was holding back a storm of emotions. His eyes were focused on the road, but Shanaya knew his mind was far from here. He was protecting Aadhya, but at what cost?
Shanaya's thoughts circled back to Ekansh. She had been wary when she first met him-Vikram Singhania's son. The son of the man who had destroyed their family. She had been concerned, even cautious. But after seeing the way Ekansh looked at Aadhya, the way he spoke to her, held her, and fought for her... all these doubts had disappeared. Ekansh didn't just love Aadhya. He cherished her, worshipped her in a way Shanaya had never seen before. And that terrified her.
Because Dev couldn't see it.
His love for Aadhya was clouding his judgment, making him blind to the truth. To him, Ekansh was just his enemy's son-a threat. But to Aadhya, he was her everything. And now, separated from him, Aadhya wasn't just hurt. She was broken.
Shanaya reached out and gently placed her hand over Aadhya's, offering silent comfort. But Aadhya didn't respond. She just kept staring out of the window, her heart, her soul, left behind with the man who had promised to love her beyond reason.
Shanaya's heart clenched painfully. She knew this wasn't over. This wasn't the end of Aadhya and Ekansh's story. But as she glanced at Dev's hardened expression and Aadhya's lifeless gaze, she couldn't help but wonder-how much more would they have to endure before fate brought them back together? And when that moment came... would it be too late?
