The first day of school was finally over. You were waiting on the side, waiting for your parents to pick you up.
Today was actually pretty calm despite the hectic morning you had. You spent the rest of the school day ignoring Itoshi and got to actually know more about Hina. Though if you were being honest, you weren't exactly sure why she was talking to you only. A bunch of people would wave or say hi to her when passing by, so you knew she was quite a familiar face.
But it did make you slightly happy that someone actually wanted to be your friend. She felt warm and welcoming. You also managed to get her contact and socials.
You saw your father finally pull up and you made your way inside. The moment you entered the car and closed the door–the awkward atmosphere returned. Usually, your dad would always ask you how school was, but he seemed aware of the fact that you weren't interested in conversing.
The whole car ride was silent. You were quick to plug in earbuds to fill the uncomfortable silence that was scratching you in all the wrong ways. This gave you time to think.
It was a shame that Itoshi was a rude, little jerk.
'He's cute.'
Your own thoughts made your cheeks burn. Honestly, his face was totally your type, but his personality wasn't. If he was nicer and more sociable, you would have definitely fallen for him.
But you had an extremely refined taste. Personality and looks both equally matter to you.As soon as you caught yourself thinking too much about Itoshi, you quickly pulled yourself together and played a random game on your phone to distract you from your evil thoughts.
The moment you arrived home, you went straight to your room and changed to more comfortable clothes. Grabbing your backpack, you went over to your work desk so that you could study and get ahead of the term.

You leaned back in your chair, yawning as you stretched your upper body, feeling your eyes start to get heavy. Checking the time, you realized it was almost time for dinner and that you had been studying for a while already. Getting up, you decided to check downstairs to see if dinner was ready–you were feeling famished.
Walking down the stairs, you spotted your dad placing food onto the dining table. It smelled really delicious and you heard your stomach growl in hunger. Picking up the pace, you walked into the dining area where your mom was already sitting in her seat at the table.
"Oh there you are, dinner just finished cooking. I was about to call you." Your mom commented.
"I was feeling hungry." You replied, taking your own seat at the table.
Your parents conversed between the two of them, while you quietly ate your meal as quickly as possible so that you could excuse yourself and binge watch your life away. While your cheeks were stuffed with food, your mom turned to you.
"Y/n, there's something that me and your father have to tell you." she stated. Unable to respond, you simply nodded your head in acknowledgment–signaling for her to continue with what she was gonna say.
"Our new job has emailed us our schedules, and we are struggling to decide who can pick you on monday, wednesdays, and friday since both me and your dad are working during the afternoon on those days."
You slowly nodded, wondering what direction your mom was heading in during the conversations.
"However, one of my old highschool and college friends offered up and said she wouldn't mind watching over you for a bit after school. So starting next week, you'll be going home with her and just staying over at her house for a bit."
This time you almost choked on the food. Your parents were giving you away to a stranger. Honestly, you didn't even need anyone to watch over you–you were plenty old enough to take care of yourself. Quickly swallowing your food, you attempted to defend yourself.
"Wait, but I don't wanna be a burden. I can take care of myself." you reasoned.
"I know honey, but we are still unfamiliar with the area and the people. It would give me and your father some comfort, knowing that you are safe with someone we know." Your father nodded in agreement with your mother, who looked at you with pleading eyes.
You understood where your parents were coming from, but you felt a bit embarrassed having to task someone to have to watch over you. But you didn't want to add another argument on top of the many other ones you already had.
Letting out a soft sigh, you accepted your parent's wishes.
"She invited us over this weekend, so you can meet her." Your father added. There wasn't much for you to say anymore, so you continued to keep nodding your head to whatever your parents said.
Your mind eventually drifted from the conversation, feeling bored.

As soon as you finished all the food on your plate, you immediately excused yourself and took your dishes to the sink. When you were finally deep inside your bed, surrounded by your surplus amount of blankets and pillows.
Your eyes felt heavy and the moment you were about to succumb to sleep, there was a loud vibration from your found. Grumbling, you rolled over to the edge of your bed and reached for your phone. There was a message from Hina. It read :
Hi Y/n, I know this might seem sudden, but I was wondering if you would become a manager with me for the boys football team. The other manager from last year was a third year at the time, so now I'm all alone...No pressure though!
Utter confusion filled your mind as you read the message. First, you didn't even know anything about football. Second, why would Hina ask you after only knowing you for a day–there were a bunch of other people in the school that she probably has known for longer. It honestly puzzled you.
So to satisfy your curiosity, you remained honest with her. As you responded to her message, you asked her why and the reason behind your hesitation. You shut off your phone and set it aside, waiting for a response.
But it didn't take long for you to pass out in your bed. And you were unaware of the fact that your phone didn't register you clicking send. The message never being sent.
