Not first, but the best...

~the next morning inside Dan's bedroom~

Jane stirred awake, feeling a warmth around her. As her eyes adjusted to the morning light, she realized that she was wrapped in Dan's embrace. His arms were firm around her, their bodies close, his breath steady in sleep. Her heart pounded as she took in the situation.

Jane: Dan....wake up.

Dan shifted slightly but didn't open his eyes.

Jane: Dan! Let me go. I can't move!

His eyes fluttered open, immediately locking onto Jane's startled expression. As realization struck, he quickly removed his arms.

Dan: I...I didn't mean to hug you without your consent while you were in sleep.

Jane: Uhm....It's fine. Atleast it was warm and cozy!

They sat up awkwardly, both not looking at each other. A knock on the door saved them from further embarrassment.

Dan's mother: Are you both awake! Breakfast is ready.

Dan: Yes, we're coming!

Dan rubbed his face, still sleepy, while Jane got out of bed quickly. But before leaving the room, she hesitated.

Jane: I don't have my clothes for office here.

Dan : Then wear mine ! They'll be comfortable for you.

Jane's eyes widened as Dan handed her one of his oversized t-shirts and office pants. With no other choice, she changed in the bathroom. When she stepped out, Dan looked at her, momentarily stunned.

Dan: You look....nice.

Jane: Thanks!

Dan: why is your face looking so fresh after changing clothes? You also applied lipstick?

Jane: well, I had put makeup on my face! I always keep my essential beauty products in my office bag.

Dan with a chuckle: Smart move!

They had breakfast together with Dan's mother, sharing casual conversations and laughter before heading to the office.

~at office~

As they walked in together, Sam immediately noticed and smirked.

Sam: What's this? You two arrived together?

Dan: Jane stayed over, because my mom wasn't well.

Sam: Oh! And nothing else?

Dan: Of course not! It was just-

Sam: just a beautiful evening? Or a steamy night?

Dan grabbed a file from his desk and playfully smacked Sam's arm.

Dan: Shut up.

Jane rolling her eyes: let me take my seat then.

Sam chuckled, clearly enjoying their reactions.
