Dan: Something's going on
Jane: Leave it... just bestie things!
Dan, confused: Okay then... Mr. Rivera called Cruz to his cabin, didn’t he?
Jane: Yeah Cruz, you should go now. It's break time. We’ll come with you till the doorway.
Cruz, after a wink: Ohh thanks, love...
Dan rolled his eyes while the three of them entered the elevator. Cruz noticed his eye roll and gave Jane a signal with her eyes. Then she gently took Jane’s hand and placed a quick kiss on the back of her palm.
Cruz, smiling: You look so adorable today!
Jane, catching the vibe: Thanks, soulmate...
Dan stood there, amused by their little drama. As soon as Cruz exited the elevator with a goodbye to Jane, Dan quickly pressed the top floor button. The doors shut and the elevator began rising. In a flash, Dan pinned Jane against the elevator wall.
Jane, burning inside: W-What are you doing, Dan? There’s a camera in here. Behave yourself!
Dan: Who’s your soulmate, huh?
Jane, half-laughing, half-scared: Oh Dan! Cruz told me she’d tease you like this when she sees you again. She even gave me a signal—
Dan, placing his finger on her lips: Shhh. You made me jealous anyway. Now you have to pay for it!
Jane, moving his hand away: But Dan, she’s my girl best friend...
Without another word, Dan leaned closer, holding the back of her neck. The elevator doors slid open a little, but they didn’t notice. A Kein employee waiting outside caught the scene.
Employee, pretending to cover her eyes: I didn’t see anything! Please, carry on...
Dan pulled his face back, just half an inch away from Jane’s lips. Jane quickly turned toward the wall, hiding her face in embarrassment. The employee didn’t step in. The elevator kept moving and finally reached the rooftop. Dan grabbed Jane’s wrist and started walking toward the open balcony of the office.
Dan, glancing back at her: I’m really hungry! Good thing you’re enough for both lunch and dinner.
Jane quickly pulled her hand away and ran toward the elevator.
Jane, smirking: Not today, my lovely beast!
She rushed in, hit a random floor button, and the doors closed before Dan could follow. He stood there, hands on his hips, panting.
Dan, laughing to himself: So you wanna play a game? Let’s see who wins in the end!
~At Cruz’s New Desk, after an hour~
Cruz was setting up her laptop, focused on her work. Sam, sitting nearby, kept stealing glances every few minutes, but Cruz didn’t even notice.
Sam: So... Crystal, need any help setting up? Got your email? It’s where we handle all our daily tasks and—
Cruz, cutting him off: I know! It’s not my first time working in marketing. And please, don’t call me by my real name.
Sam: Why? Crystal’s a good name...
Cruz, rolling her eyes: Ugh. Just call me Cruz! And I’m almost done setting everything up.
Sam, a little lost: Uhmm... okay then! Carry on...
~Back at Jane’s Desk~
~Jane’s POV~
"He’s seriously possessive over me… and why do I love it so much? I still have some work left, but maybe I can surprise him a little."
"I took a purple sticky note and started drawing tiny hearts on the corners."
"Hmm... what message should I leave for my boyfriend?"
After a moment, I smiled and wrote;
Game on!
Jane - 1
Dan - 0"Ahhaa! This is cool!"
"I placed the note on Dan’s desk beside mine. Just then, I saw him coming through the office hallway. I couldn’t hold in my laughter, so I rushed into the bathroom with a hand over my mouth."
~POV Ends~
Dan walked in with a soft smile, saw the note, and laughed. He picked up a fresh sticky note and wrote something back. Jane returned from the bathroom, trying hard not to laugh. But when she read his reply, her mouth dropped open.
It said;
You're worth the wait! I'll get you soon, babygirl 💋
The kiss symbol was hand-drawn and impossible to ignore. But Jane wasn’t ready to increase his point yet.
Jane, serious: Let’s see, sir!
Dan, raising an eyebrow: Can’t you see I’m working, Ms. Yoon?
Jane, chuckling: Sure, Mr. Kang!
They both went back to work. Two hours passed without a single word between them. Dan finally stretched and glanced at Jane. She looked at him once, then turned back to her screen, pretending he didn’t exist.
At that moment, Stacie, a blonde team member, walked over to Dan. She leaned in with her laptop to ask something work-related. Their conversation shifted to random, light topics. Jane, pretending not to care, listened quietly.
Stacie, laughing: You’re so funny, Dan! And thanks for the help. I owe you a cup of tea.
Dan, smiling: Sure, Stacie...
Stacie: Hey, your collar looks a bit off.
Dan: Oh, really? Can you fix it?
She nodded and gently fixed his collar. Then she walked back to her desk.
~End of Workday~
Jane quickly shut her laptop, walked to Dan’s desk, and slapped a sticky note on his forehead, without even giving him a look.
Dan: Ouch! What was that?
Jane walked out of the hall without turning back. Dan took the sticky note off his forehead to read it;
Meet me at the junk room, babe!
He smiled helplessly as he read it. Without wasting a second, he hurriedly ran to the junk room, the rarely used storage room. He reached the junk room and called out for Jane. But then, he realized someone had locked the door from the outside.
Jane, from outside: You need another woman's help to fix your collar? Stay in there for an hour!
Dan, inside the junk room: I'm sorry, Jane. Please open the door. I lose, you win!
At that moment, Jane opened the door. Without warning, Dan grabbed her by the waist and pinned her to the wall. Jane's breath caught in her throat.
Dan: Just kidding!
