Their lips brushed..... slowly. But when they melted into each other, all hesitation vanished. The kiss deepened. Jane pulled him closer by the neck, pressing her body into his. Dan's grip around her waist tightened, like he was afraid she'd vanish if he let go.
The kiss was soft at first, then hungry!
Dan walked her backward slowly, their lips never parting, until the back of her knees hit the edge of the bed. He paused, both of them breathless.
Jane whispered :Dan....
He cupped her face, his thumb brushing her bottom lip, already swollen from his kiss.
Dan, softly: I can't stop!... But not unless you want me to.....
She leaned in and kissed him again, passionate this time.
He guided her gently onto the bed. His lips brushing her jaw, and her throat.
Rain showered outside like background music. But then Dan paused.
He looked into her eyes, breathing hard.
Dan: Jane... if we go any further... this changes many things.....
Jane, after thinking: Uhm.... it's better if we stop.....
Both sits back on the bed to the normal position.
Dan, in embarrassed tone: yes, it will be rushed if two steps of a relationship comes in a same day. The first kiss and first—
Jane, grinning: uhmm, let's not talk about it now. Good night!
Dan, blinking: sweet dreams....
~the next morning~
Morning sunlight came through the hotel window as Jane is awaken, her mind still replaying the kiss from the night before. She turned, only to find Dan already sitting at the edge of the bed, staring at the floor.
Their eyes met. A beat passed. They both turned away, trying to compose themselves. In that moment, Jane knew. She loves him. More than she ever loved Von. Dan, on the other hand, felt something warm, but confusing. Maybe it was just a crush, or the closeness, or... something. He wasn't sure.
They started getting ready without having any conversation.
~after they both getting ready for third day's schedule~
By 9:30 AM, the Kein and Zeno'a marketing teams had gathered in a coastal village for a traditional culture experience. The plan was packed: a short sailboat ride, a team-cooked lunch and finally, a sunset bonfire before they travel back to their city.
During the sailboat ride, Jane sat beside Dan, her fingers interlocked with his. Their embarassment was gone almost by that time. Wind blowed her hair, and Dan tucked a strand behind her ear.
Dan whispered: you're glowing today!
Jane smiled, placing her head on his shoulder.
After reaching an open ground everybody started cooking together as teams.
Meanwhile...
Petra accidently spilled tomato sauce on Sam's white shirt.
Petra: Oh my God, Sammy! I swear I didn't mean to!
Sam: I'm considering going shirtless for the rest of this trip.
Petra gasped: Oh... wow. I support that!
Sam sighed: No, Petra! Just... no.....
At afternoon the group gathered for the early bonfire.
Jane sat close to Dan, leaning into him, eyes on the fire, but heart full of him. He fed her roasted marshmallows, and she laughed freely.
She thought: "This is it. He's the one."
Later, Dan pulled Sam aside as they walked along the cliffside.
Dan: Man.... I kissed Jane.
Sam stopped: Wai-What? you kissed her?
Dan nodded, smiling: It just happened. And... I don't know. I feel good. I think I have a crush on her.
Sam raised an eyebrow: Just a crush?
Dan scratched his neck: Well... she's amazing. But it's complicated, you know? I mean... I only proposed to her to escape from Sally in the first place.
He chuckled: And I still had feelings for Eka.
At the same time Jane had come looking for Dan. She stood frozen as those last words hit her like bricks.
She only heard: "I only proposed to her to escape from Sally in the first place" and "I still had feelings for Eka."
A tear rolled down her cheek. She turned away, quietly wiping it and walking back to the bonfire.
Dan and Sam continued walking, unaware.
Dan: But Sam, I am completely moved on from Eka I think. Even if it's just a crush on Jane, I can still start loving her in the future. Maybe she is the one!
Sam: I knew this would happen. And i totally agree with you. Let's go back to bonfire.
Back at the bonfire, Jane sat a little farther from everyone now, arms around her knees, smile faded.
Dan returned, grinning."Hey," he said, sitting beside her.
She looked up."Hey," she replied, flatly.
He tried holding her hand. She gently pulled it away, pretending to adjust her hair.
Dan, furrowing his eyebrows: Everything okay?
Jane forced a smile: Yeah... just tired.
The sunlight faded away to welcome evening. Dan leaned closer. But Jane subtly shifted away. Dan's smile slowly faded. She was distant, Cold and he didn't know why.
Meanwhile, Jane stared into the flames, blinking away the tears tending to fall again. Because now, everything hurt. And he didn't even know it.
He decided to truly love her, but she misinterpreted his words, causing a misunderstanding that created distance between them.......
