The sun had barely climbed over the rooftops when I padded into the kitchen, hair a mess and hoodie definitely stolen from Taylor. The smell of fresh coffee and waffles filled the air, and Blake and Ryan were already seated at the counter like they lived there-both looking way too awake for how early it was.

Blake took one look at me and burst out laughing.

"Oh good morning, Miss 'Mommy, harder,'" she sang, waggling her eyebrows.

I froze.

Dead. I was dead again. For real this time.

"Blake!" I squeaked, covering my face with both hands as Ryan cackled into his coffee.

"I knew I heard it," he said, pointing his mug at me. "At first I thought it was a ghost. But no. Just you living your best life."

I groaned, practically trying to disappear into the floor. "I'm gonna walk into traffic."

Behind me, I heard soft footsteps-then Taylor's voice, still a little raspy from sleep. "Oh, come on. Don't tease her too hard."

She walked up and kissed my cheek sweetly before casually adding, "I thought it was hot."

I whimpered.

Blake leaned back on her stool, grinning like the devil herself. "You should've heard her, Tay. Our girl's got some lungs."

Taylor, completely unbothered, poured herself a cup of coffee. "Yeah, I'm very proud."

"I hate it here," I mumbled, burying my face in Taylor's hoodie.

Blake stood and walked over, tugging me gently into a warm hug despite my muffled, mortified protests.

"You're adorable," she said, laughing into my hair. "I've never met anyone who can be that cute and scream 'Mommy' at top volume. You're special, kid."

Ryan raised his mug. "To the vocal ones."

Taylor just smirked, sipping her coffee with all the smug satisfaction of someone whose girlfriend had clearly rocked her world-and screamed it loud enough for the whole house to hear.

I on the other hand didn't know whether to cry, run, or frame the moment and hang it on the wall.

Probably all three.

The tension in the kitchen was palpable, and for a moment, it felt like the air was too thick to breathe.

Blake was still grinning, nudging me with her elbow. "I think we need a special toast for you, fangirl. To-"

But her words were cut off when the kitchen door swung open with a loud creak.

Callie.

She stormed in, her expression unreadable at first, but the second she caught sight of Taylor and me standing close, her eyes darkened. Her mouth twisted into a sneer.

"Funny. I didn't realize I was walking into this again."

I stiffened, feeling the weight of her gaze like it was a physical blow. I glanced at Taylor, who hadn't moved, but I could tell she was tense, the muscles in her jaw tight.

Blake and Ryan exchanged glances, and Blake's teasing smile faded as she stood silently beside me, her posture more guarded now.

"What do you want, Callie?" Taylor asked, her voice low but firm, clearly done with the emotional games.

Callie's eyes flicked to Taylor before landing on me, a smirk forming on her lips. "Just had to see the happy couple. And I see it's all still so wholesome," she said, her tone dripping with sarcasm.
