Lamos woke up, his eyes wide open immediately. He sat up, as he wiped sweat from his forehead. "W-what happened...?" he asked himself, his voice breathless.

He gently stood, his knees almost buckled under him. He grabbed the table, he had just lied on, for support. "Ha... ha..." His hand went to his chest, where Domis had stabbed him. The wound was still there, but cleaned from his father. He winced after he touched it, his memories now flooded back into his mind.

He remembered when he fought with Domis, could have killed him but didn't. Then he went to the mountain, the sanctuary for wizards. He had run into Domis again who had his father captured. He had given himself up for his father to live. He remembered it all now.

"B-but how am I still alive...?"  Lamos asked himself again. He stood up straight, and started to walk towards the door, but ended up falling on his face. "Dang it... I must've used some of my power before he stabbed me... which means I used a lot of my power to bring myself back from the dead... that's why I am so weak..." he observed.

Lamos gently sat up, his hand the wound on his chest, that ached. He looked around, as he took in his surroundings. "This is my fathers place... So my father should come home soon..." He let out a breath, as he sat up against the wall. "My dad should be able to help me then..."

Domis was in a tavern, as he celebrated his victory with other wizard hunters. "To the death of Lamos!" he cheered. He stood on a table, as he held his stein mug up.

"Here! Here!" everyone else cheered as well, before they chugged down their rum.

"Tell us again how you defeated him!" one guy said after he set his mug down. His body swayed from too much he had drunk that night.

Domis smirked. He plopped down in a chair, his feet put up on the table. "Well you see, Lamos was a very clever wizard, but he wasn't as clever as me. I outsmarted him, knowing exactly where he was going. I already had his father captured so I decided to use him as bait..." He took a swig of his rum. "...Lamos being the idiot that he is took the bait and allowed me to kill him." He laughed. "He is such an idiot!"

"I don't think you should be so smug," an old voice said behind them. Everyone turned around to see Rein, the old friend who had helped Domis before. He leaned on his staff, as he looked at the wizard hunter. "Some things don't always turn out the way you want them to."

Domis chuckled, as he stood up. "What are you talking about, Rein?" he asked. "Lamos is dead. I killed him. I left him and his father on the mountain. His father is probably dead as well." Everyone in the tavern and him laughed.

Rein slammed his staff on the floor, which made everyone quiet down. "You do not know that! Did you see Lamos stop breathing? Did you feel his pulse?"

Domis smirk slowly starts to fade, but he remains smug. "I saw him stop breathing, but no I didn't feel his pulse. The old man was too over him, crying about his dead son,"  he mocked, which made everyone laugh again. He smirked, taken another swig from his mug. "And anyways, there's no power that could bring Lamos back from the dead. He's not that powerful."

Rein stared at Domis with a stern face. "You do not know that, Domis! This fight between you and Lamos are far from over! He is not as weak as you say! You had spent months trying to capture him before, why are you now acting like he is an idiot?!"

The tavern was now filled with whispers, as everyone whispered that maybe Domis had been telling lies about Lamos. "Is what he said actually correct?" one guy asked. "Yeah, or was it a lie just to become a legendary wizard hunter?" another one asked. "I don't know, but personally part of me thinks Domis is being dramatic about the whole ordeal," one whispered.

Domis's face contorted with anger. "Shut up!" he yelled. Everyone went silent at his demand. "Lamos is dead! I killed him! He is not alive anymore!" He turned to Rein. "And I'll prove it by finding his dead body and showing all of you what a dead coward he is!"

Lamos waited for his father to come home, but it was taken longer then he would have liked. Every time he tried to stand up, he would fall back down, which made him feel weaker. He was too weak to do anything at the moment, but only being able to lie there, which angered him to no level.

After about thirty minutes passed Lamos fell into a deep sleep.

Lamos woke up in a field, face flat on the ground. He sat up slowly. His body didn't ache, or hurt. Is this a dream? he asked himself, as he looked around. The grass was beautiful and trimmed, the trees blew in the breeze, which made the air fresh.

"Lamos..." a sweet voice called out to him. The voice was soft, gentle, a beautiful melody to it. He knew that voice.

Lamos immediately spun his head around. He was met with a beautiful woman, who stood beside a tree, a magical smile on his lips.

"Mom..." He smiled as he ran over to her, his arms wrapped around her in a bear hug.

His mother hugged him back, her smile bright. "Lamos, my child," she said gently. "You have had a rough life, but you had done well, my sweet baby." She brushed a strand of hair from his face. "Just last a little longer, everything will get better. I promise."

Lamos looked at her, a tear stained smile crept onto his face, as a rare hint of vulnerability showed in his usual stern face, at seeing his late mother. "Okay, mom. I'll make you proud, I promise."

His mother vanished from sight, leaving Lamos standing there by himself.

Lamos soon woke up with a start. He looked around and realized he was still on the floor up against the wall in his fathers cabin. He rested his head back against the wall, as he took a deep breath.

Soon the door slammed open, and his father came and rushed in. "Lamos! You're alive!" He jumped at his son, and hugged him tightly. "Some said you were, but I didn't know! I can't believe it! I thought you died!"

Lamos hugged his father, as he tried to comfort him. "Its okay, dad. Everything is okay, I'm okay. I didn't die. I obviously used some of my magic before Domis stabbed me, so I came back from the brink of death."

His father pulled back, as he his head shook violently. "No! No! You're not okay! They're coming for you! They're coming to find you, and kill you again if they find you alive!"

Lamos grabbed his father by the shoulders. "Who?" he asked urgently.

His father looked at him with fear. "Domis!"
