( that stupid perfect boy )
Haneul High, Class 3-B. Monday. First period.
Minji was already annoyed and the day had barely started.
The second she walked into class, she knew it was going to be one of those mornings. Her seat was still next to him—Han Taesan—the boy with the most annoyingly perfect handwriting, annoyingly perfect uniform, and the most irritatingly beautiful laugh she'd ever heard.
Which, obviously, she hated.
"Minji, your face looks like someone stepped on your soul," Asha whispered, sliding into her chair and fluffing her afro like the queen she was. Minji gave her a glare that could peel paint.
"No. It's just him again."
Asha smirked, eyes flicking over to Taesan, who was quietly writing something in his notebook like he was solving world peace."Ahh. Mr. President of the I-Know-I'm-Pretty Club?"
Minji groaned. "His stupid laugh. I swear if he does it again today I might actually cry. Or punch him."
Meanwhile, a few rows behind, Woonhak was having his own internal crisis.
"Do you think her curls are always that shiny?" he whispered to Leehan, who blinked slowly like his soul had just left his body. Woonhak was staring at Asha like she was the main character in a music video and he was the sad little background boy sweeping the floor.
"Bro. Focus. There's a quiz," Leehan muttered, nudging him.
The teacher walked in, holding a stack of papers.
"Alright, pop quiz. Ten questions. No talking. Let's see how much your brains retained over the weekend."
A chorus of groans echoed through the room. Woonhak nearly dropped his pencil. Minji muttered a curse. Taesan sat up straighter. Of course.
Five minutes in...
"Number four: What is the square root of 256?"
Scratch scratch.
"Taesan, correct again."
Minji narrowed her eyes.
"Number five: Translate this sentence into formal Korean."
Scratch.
"Taesan, perfect."By the time they hit question seven, Minji was staring at Taesan like he had personally declared war on her GPA.
"I bet he dreams in equations," she whispered to Asha.
Asha shrugged. "Honestly? Kinda hot."Minji let out a quiet, horrified gasp.
"No."
"Yes," Asha said with a grin. "Also, Woonhak is still staring at me. Should I wink at him?"
Minji choked. "Absolutely not. He's like twelve."
"He's sixteen."
"Exactly."By the end of the quiz, Minji was 80% sure she failed, 100% sure Taesan got a perfect score, and 200% done with everything.
Especially him.
When class ended, she didn't wait. She threw her pen down, grabbed her notebook, and stormed out.
Behind her, Taesan looked up from his paper, blinked, and turned to Leehan.
"...Did I do something?"
