Pipers POV of the I love you

Piper stretched out on the blanket, staring up at the sky as it faded from gold to deep lavender. The breeze rustled the trees gently, carrying the smell of pine and smoke. She loved this time of day—the world caught in that quiet pause between chaos and calm.

But mostly, she loved moments like this: you, sitting beside her, close enough that she could feel the warmth of you even without touching. You always made her feel more grounded than anything else ever had. Like she could just *be*—not a daughter of Aphrodite, not a hero, not someone trying to keep everything together. Just Piper.

She snuck a glance at you. You were staring again, in that thoughtful, almost nervous way that made her heart thud a little harder in her chest.

She smiled, teasing to cover the flip in her stomach. "If you're admiring me, I don't mind."

You laughed—a soft, sweet sound she always wanted more of. "Maybe I am."

Gods, she was so far gone for you.

Still, something in your expression tugged at her. You were quiet, more than usual. She sat up a little, scanning your face. "You okay?"

"Yeah. Just thinking."

She tilted her head. "About?"

Piper watched as your hands fidgeted with the edge of the blanket. Your eyes flicked to hers, then dropped again, like the words building in your throat were too big to say.

And then, you looked up—and said them anyway.

"I love you."

Everything in Piper stilled.

For a split second, the words didn't register. Then they did—and her heart surged. Her breath caught, chest blooming with something too big to name.

She'd wanted to hear you say that. She'd dreamed of it, actually. And gods, she'd *felt* it—every time you brushed her hair behind her ear, every time you looked at her like she wasn't just a demigod but someone *worth* loving.

"You... love me?" Her voice was softer than she meant it to be.

You nodded, and Piper thought she might melt right there.

"I didn't mean for it to sneak up on me," you said, "but it did. And I didn't want to wait anymore to tell you."

Piper let out a breath, and suddenly she was smiling—grinning, actually, so big her cheeks hurt.

She moved closer, taking your hand like it was something sacred. "I've been holding that in for weeks."

Your eyes widened. "Wait—really?"

"Really," she murmured.

It was so obvious now, so easy to say. She leaned in, foreheads touching, and for a moment everything else—the monsters, the quests, the weight of being a hero—fell away.

"I love you," she said.

And then she kissed you.

It wasn't rushed. It didn't need to be. It was soft, sure, slow—like a promise sealed between your lips. Piper felt the tension leave her shoulders as soon as you kissed her back, like everything was finally falling into place.

When she pulled back, your eyes were still closed for a beat longer, and she smiled.

"I love you," she said again, just because she could now.

You opened your eyes, cheeks flushed, lips curved. "I know. I love you too."

Piper reached up to tuck a strand of hair behind your ear and leaned in to press one last kiss to your forehead, content to stay wrapped in the safety of your arms and the quiet of the woods.

For the first time in a long time, she didn't feel like she had to fight for the future.

It was already here—with you.
