(Dabis POV)
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───
Dabi lays in bed in deep thought for a couple minutes. When the dream he's trying to remember gets too blurry to think about he yawns, sits up and stretches. He couldn't help but feel a little relieved that Hawks left. He looks down at his sleeping sister and gently shakes her shoulder.
"Hey, Star... wake up."
"Mmm...yeah?"
Star mumbles as her eyes flutter open. She rubs her eyes as she looks up at him.
"We are not waking up late again today. We are going to get up, and do something productive today."
Dabi states as he rolls out of bed and grabs his jacket, putting it on as he keeps his eyes on his sister.
"Yeah yeah...I got some stuff to do in my workshop anyways..."
Star mumbles as she sits on the edge of the bed, Dabi kneels down and helps her put her boots on.
Dabi nods, getting up to help her with her boots, making sure they were on right before getting his own on. He watches as she yawns, clearly not fully awake yet.
"Good, I'm sure your stuff will keep you distracted for most of the day, as usual."
"Mhm...hopefully. I also only had one nightmare tonight, but it wasn't that bad."
Star comments as she slowly stands up.
"That's good at least... what was the nightmare about this time?"
Dabi asks as he gently pats her head and opens their bedroom door. He lets Star walk out into the hallway before walking out himself and closing the door.
"I don't remember..."
Star mumbles as she looks down at the floor. Dabi follows alongside her, as they walk out of the room. He glances at her as she shrugs, not wanting to pry any further.
"You don't remember at all? Usually, you at least know a little bit of them..."
"Nah, I think it was about us when we were homeless."
Star mutters as she leans against Dabis arm.
"Ah...homeless. The time when we had to struggle to get by day to day."
Dabi thinks to himself, the thought making him grimace slightly at the mention of it... Those times were tough, and he really wasn't proud of some of the things he had to do during that time. Especially some of the things he did around Star... He could practically still hear the sound of her crying...
He swallows a bit, feeling a pang of guilt in his chest. He really wasn't the best brother at the time... he was going through a lot... but still. He should've been better to her...
He hesitates for a few moments before finally speaking, his voice quiet and remorseful.
"I... I know I wasn't exactly the greatest back then... but I'm here to look out for you now... I won't screw up like that again..."
"I know, we were both just mentally ill teens with scars. I don't blame you." Star speaks softly, managing a weak smile as she nods her head. .
Dabi lets out a soft sigh, feeling a small wave of relief at her words. She didn't blame him... even though she had every right to. He gently pats her head again, a small smile on his face.
"Yeah... still. I was a prick when we were kids. Sorry about all the times I was a jerk to you..."
Star tilts her head and looks up at him as she continues to lean against him. There foot steps making a small tap against the hallway floor.
"You don't need to be sorry. You did what you had to, besides you weren't ever bad to me."
"What? Yeah I was, I used to yell at you just because of something you couldn't control..."
"And? You never hit me."
Star speaks up quietly and Dabis footsteps pause.
"I... It doesn't matter, I still didn't make your life any easier and before you make excuses for me I don't went them. I don't even know why you consider me your brother still..."
Dabi scoffs and looks away and he continues to walk. Star stand still for a moment before she stumbles agree him, she hods his hand and makes him stop walking.
"I don't care how much you've changed. You're still my older brother."
Dabi freezes, his body stiffening and his eyes widening. He has had basically every part of him changed, his organs, his skin, his hair... sometimes he wonders if even his brain was replaced, yet his sister was still beside him... at least she never changed.
"I know... now come on sis, you got work to do..."
