Just as Tonowari called on his skimwing, ready to go further for his search, Tsireya appeared before him. She stared at him, she herself atop her ilu as she signed, 'You didn't let me finish.'

From her hesitance and expression, he felt his pounding heart drop.

'I saw a submarine...'

________

" Fuck." The doctor muttered, " When did things go so wrong?"

" Dr. Nicole, we can't stay in the past." Peter, a well educated scientist who has studied the Navi species for years, tried to assure the woman beside him. Still, just for extra security he asked the soldier driving the advanced ship, "Are you sure they can't see us from down here?"

He looked up first, checking for anything that may seem like a threat before responding, " Yes, besides this little guy is equipped with a bit of ammo just in case. As long as we hang low and get far enough, I'll be able to contact a boat to take us to base- what in Gods good name is that-"

Dr.Nicole and Peter ran to the front of the submarine to see what he was so amazed by. And they too froze in both horror and disbelief at what was before them. The most ethereal creature  they had ever seen was sinking to the bottom of the ocean.

" Peter, what is that thing?" the soldier asked, stopping the machine, almost too scared to move. They were all so captivated by it, they almost forgot they needed to escape quickly.

" I don't know. I've never seen anything like this one before. She's not from any clans near here, that's for sure." his voice was low and almost a gasp. His curiosity has never been so high, his interest has never been so clear. A Na'vi with white hair, and who knows what other information he could gather from her. With good research, who knows what he could discover. He would become world famous...

He already began to imagine the amount of recognition and praise he could get by proving just how many Na'vi clans there truly are out there, yet the soldier quickly interrupted his thoughts... " Alright, let's get out of here."

Paul stopped him, " Wait! We can't just leave that here, we have to take it with us."

" Take it? Are you insane? That's a monster who's sinking to the bottom of the ocean, it is dead."

Paul thought about a way to convince him, then luckily Dr.Nicole spoke next," I have an idea." using a high tech scanner equipped in all of their machinery, they checked if she had a pulse. She said calmly, " It's alive but barely."

The soldier nodded once," Great, even more reason to leave her. If we take that thing with us and she wakes up, we can kiss our sorry lives goodbye."

Paul gripped his shoulder and sternly told her, " I know there's something we can use on this submarine that can help us take her, but I'm not leaving without her. Imagine all the studies I can do, imagine the things we can find out. Besides, a Na'vi like that could be used for valuable information or even bribery."

When he still seemed reluctant, he swiftly added, " Imagine the praise we would all receive. If we go back to the base empty handed, we'll be perceived as mere cowards. Perhaps even lose our jobs. But with her-" he pointed, reminding them of how magnificent she looked, "- if we bring that back with us our lives could change forever but for the better."

The last part seemed to help, but still he seemed doubtful. With a deep breath he finally said, " Alright, I say we leave the creature here and Paul says we take it with us. Dr. Nicole, you have the deciding vote."

She seemed surprised to hear her name mentioned in the conversation, yet was quick to recover. Staring at the Na'vi before her, she couldn't help but come to a decision quickly.

" I can't help but say I myself am quite curious. Taking her with us could lead to research that would breakthrough everything we know about their species. My vote is yes, she comes with us."

The soldier seemed dissatisfied but accepted the loss by fair vote. Shrugging his shoulders, he began to maneuver the submarine so that they could grab her.

" It's settled then, she comes with us."

__________

" I'm not entirely certain if they took her or she merely drifted to somewhere I couldn't see, but I saw the submarine Father. I saw underwater but I couldn't do anything because I was too frightened to leave Neteyam. I thought they would go after him, I would've never thought they would take her!"

Tonowari listened with a hand to his head as his daughter explained what she saw. He didn't blame her, not in the least, yet he couldn't help but feel his anger and frustration begin to rise.

It was a replacement of the fear and guilt, anything but feeling those emotions and letting his thoughts drift off to the worst scenarios. The day Vareya came to the island in her mother's arms, she warned him of the dangers of her clan.

Made him promise that he would protect her from them, for they wanted to use her in ways that would harm her. If somehow they got to her, or if they find her while she's not in his sight, what would happen?

Would they kill his niece? Torture her? Force her to use her gifts if they are aware of it? He growled at himself, stopping the voice in his head. No, if she was indeed captured she was in the hands of the demons.

Yet his mind was also racing with thoughts of why they would possibly take her. Because of her unique features? Did they see her interacting with the Sully's and are going to hold her captive? Whatever it be reason was, he knew the longer she was with them the worse it will be. All he could do was pray to Eywa was that if she was still alive, that he'd keep her that way until he was able to rescue her.

" I wish I could've done more, I'm sorry." Was the last thing he caught as his daughter finished explaining.

Rubbing her cheek softly, he whispered, " It's not your fault Tsireya. We will find her, it will be alright."

They sat beside eachother on the rock but were still near the rest of the Sully family. Them being so close to earshot must've heard Tsireyas story, because Kiri asked, " So you're saying Vareya had something to do with saving Neteyam?"

Tonowari kept his face stern, " Answers will come with time, but first I need to find my niece as soon as possible."

Jake nodded in understanding, but to everyone's suprise Neytiri spoke next, " If that girl truly did have something to do with saving my son, I will help you in any way I can to find her."

She looked down at her son, breathing softly in he was asleep. And as she gently rubbed his cheek she whispered, " I will help bring Vareya back to you."

Almost the second his mother said her name, Neteyams eyes shot open. He sat up quickly, panting heavily as he clutched the spot where his wound was. His eyes were frantic, scanning everyone. His family all huddled around him, tears of joy filling their eyes as they saw the miracle before them.

Just as they were about to ask if he was alright, just as they were about to ask if he was in any pain, one sharp and quick question was the first words he spoke.

" Where is Vareya."
