The temple shook. The gate opened wider. The red light grew brighter. A terrible voice filled the room—it was deep, loud, and angry. It said one name:
"N'Zarul."
Mark screamed and held his head. He saw awful things in his mind: monsters, fire, death. His body was burning from the inside. The god was trying to take full control.
Then Mark looked at Sarah and Ben. He remembered who he was.
He remembered his grandfather.
He stepped onto the stone altar and took the old knife—the same one from the book. He held it tightly.
"There's only one way to stop this," he said.
"Mark, no—!" Sarah shouted.
But he smiled.
Then he stabbed himself in the heart.
His blood hit the stone. A bright light exploded from the ground. The monsters screamed. The gate shook.
Then—it slammed shut.
The light faded.
And Mark was gone.
