You head to the hotel to drop off your luggage. All of you packed light, since the plan was only to stay here for two days at most. Come tomorrow, Satoru and Suguru are supposed to be escorting Riko back to Jujutsu High's campus, so that she can complete the merger with Tengen. But knowing what happened canonically, and given what you said to her before you left, you're almost positive she'll make the same decision as she was always meant to.
The decision to live.
"Your room is on the fourth floor," the receptionist says, sliding a singular key over to all of you. "We hope you enjoy your stay."
Nanami scrunches his brows together, convinced he must have heard wrong. "Sorry, did you say room?"
"Yes, your room. The room that was reserved under... [Name], correct?" The receptionist blinks in confusion. "That's the name we have on file here. Is something wrong?"
"But you only gave us one key."
"Yes. Only one key is required to access the room. Oh," she realizes, and she chuckles softly. "Sorry. Did you want a spare? There's no need to worry. If you happen to lose your key at some point, we'll replace it right away, but we normally don't give out multiple copies in advance."
Nanami continues staring at her, with his mouth fully agape, and by this point, it's pretty clear what's happening.
"I think what he means to ask is that there's only one room?" you frown. "We were told that there would be two rooms. A smaller room just for me, and then a room for the three of them to share."
Now it's the receptionist's turn to gape. Uh-oh. It looks like that was the last thing she was expecting to hear, which definitely doesn't bode well.
"U-Um," she stammers. "I'm sorry, just give me a moment to check your reservation. It's possible I might have overlooked something."
Her long nails repeatedly click against the keyboard. She's typing like her life depends on it, possibly because she's expecting some kind of outburst if you don't get exactly what you want. Must be because of an unpleasant experience she's had in the past. Ah, the joys of customer service.
"I only see a reservation for one room," she mumbles weakly, face gradually turning more pale by the second. "And I'm afraid that because it's the summer, when we're at our busiest, nothing else is available at the moment..."
You stare at her, she stares at you, and the longer this eye contact drags on, the more it looks like she might just crawl under the table and take refuge there.
Damn, girl, who hurt you?
"It's fine," you reassure, and you quickly squeeze Nanami's hand, because you feel like he was about to get a bit argumentative just now. "One room is fine, don't worry. It's a decently big room, right? So, it should have two beds. That's more than enough."
Nanami's face turns violently red. "What? How is that enough? I can't possibly expect you to share a room with three boys-"
"Seriously, don't worry about it. We'll barely be spending any time in the hotel anyway."
"Yeah, and I already had a sleepover with [Name] once before," Naoya grins, in between licks of his ice cream.
"You did what?"
"That was another one of my first times! I got to have my first sleepover with [Name], and now my first trip with [Name], also, the first time I ever left the Zen'in Clan estate was to go see [Name]..."
There he goes. Naoya's begun listing off too many things to even keep track of, and Nanami scowls irritably, but you grab him by the hand and start leading him towards the room, because the poor receptionist seems like she's just shy of breaking into tears.
