Two Years Later"Ma'am I'm chasing a ghost, I don't know.... where he is." (Y/N) muttered the lyrics while lost in the music blasting through her headphones.
Strolling around her apartment, she was still confused why the place was so empty when arriving. There wasn't a single family picture frame, or any existence of definition of the word "home", in this place. It didn't even seem anyone had lived here before. There were a couple of pieces of furniture and utensils, but overall, it was an uninviting setting.
She questioned Jeong-suk about her relatives' possessions, to which he responded that he didn't have any, considering he was always working. Work was always his priority. It must run in the family. All the lights in the apartment were off, as (Y/N) looked out the glass window below her, seeing the glowing building lit up. Just as the Han River reflected the moon from its calm and peaceful waves. Calm and peaceful? Haven't felt those two together in a while....
Continuing to stare at the river, (Y/N) began to space out once again, remembering the argument she just had with her uncle Jun-ho, two years ago.
He had wanted her to attempt to recall what the island looked like. Or what (Y/N), thought which island it might be? Every time he questioned her, it was full-on interrogation after interrogation. At first, (Y/N) fully understood that she should come clean to Jun-ho about what she saw. Of course, she did. Just not the part with the Frontman.
However, with the information she gave her uncle, that's all he focused on. He needed to know where the games had taken place. Needed to know where the Monster of his brother was, so the law could punish them for the hundreds of people that they had slaughtered over the years. Even if deep down, the real reason was to see his brother once again. Much as he might be horrified by what he had become, he still cared about him. Because of this, it had blinded Jun-ho to pushing his niece further away from him, just as his brother had done to them.
Only pressuring (Y/N) to help him scout around the ocean in hopes of finding the location of the games. Especially getting the players who were killed, some justice.
At the end of the day, it resulted in Jun-ho feeling more encouraged to continue the search for his brother. (Y/N) was originally compliant, always helping her uncle out whenever she could. Yet as time went on, she just stopped helping. Stopped answering his calls and texts. Expect to see him in person, that's if she had training at the station. Much as she wanted justice for her friends, what good could come from it? Someone else will continue making the games, even if they took them down.
Yes, saving thousands of lives from being killed in the future could be extraordinarily helpful. But remembering the games, everyone had a second chance not to return. Yet they did. All the players knew the risks that they were taking after the first game. It was just their fault for not winning.
Their fault? Your fault. Remember that. (Y/N) told herself.
(Y/N) quickly closed her eyes as she flinched, recalling that event years ago. God I hate remembering things at random times. Finally coming back to reality, she muted her music, seeing a notification coming up on her phone.
Jun-ho
Your Grandmother wanted to know if you wanted to join us for dinner tomorrow? After reading the text, (Y/N) began turning on the music to full volume, ignoring another text from Jun-ho. Now lying on the sofa, she mumbled the next lyrics that came up next.
"Do I look.... like....... him?"
Not too long, (Y/N) would fall asleep while listening to the music, forcing herself to not dwell on those memories for too much longer. The next day was like the day before, wanting the day to end after being stuck with someone that (Y/N) hated. Despised even.
