Vanilla woke up, still sitting in the same spot on the ship. His seat may be comfortable, but the comfort was cold and empty. Ever cookie kept their distance from him, leaving him mostly alone in his room. Who could blame him for getting back to reading the diary?
[diary pov]
As the sun started to set they decided to not come back to the faerie kingdom. Losing each other in the dark would be easier than it seems. So they set up a camp.
The atmosphere was very unusuall for them. More often than not, their camping trips resulted with singing by the campfire, baking marschmallows and of course pillow fights. Now tho, they were sitting arund the campfire in complete silence, looking down into the fire.
Finally Blueberry Milk interrupted the silence, with and depressed voice. ,,It seems... that it happends each night huh?...."he started fidgeting with his fingers.
,,It seems so..." answered Flour.
The scholar sighed, rubbing his teary eyes, before looking up with determination. ,,I have no idea what is happening but... i really don't want to lose you..."he looked over at his friends.
,,I don't know what kind of bullshit is happening to them, or might happen to us, but know this: If i do end up like them... You were the best friends i could ever ask for." started enthusiastic Crimson Spice, before gradually losing the volume, noticing how sad his words were.
,,You were the best friend i could ever ask for as well" answered the blue cookie with a sad smile on his face.
,,Dont look at me like that Blue! You know how i hate that look in your eyes!"
,,I apologise, its just..." he didnt get to finish, already wiping tears off his face.
,,Awh, come here you big crybaby!" the red cookie opened his arms, with Flour already by his side doing the exact same.
He reached the pair, feeling wamth being wrapped around i their arms. It was that conforting feeling. So familiar in this unfamiliar situaton. Blueberry wiped away the remainder of his tears, snuggling his face into Silk Flours robes.
They sat like that for a while. The body heat and closeness providing comfort.
Finally, the scholar moved away with a determined expression ,,I will not give up like this! I believe we can get through this! As long as we keep each other close!" he smiled up at his frieds, who were now staring at him with faint smiles.
,,Soooo.... cuddle pile tonight?" smiled Crimson Spice, dropping at the ground below, already creating the bottom of the pile.
[In the morning]
It was so warm.
He felt so safe.
No danger.
Nothing to worry about.
He could let go of his worries...
could he not?
He suddenly snapped out of the dream, noticing the slow sunrise... and a path of dead plants.
The plants looked like they were just sleeping, but were entirely made of flour, slowly falling apart. The trees nearby were also partially flour, with white patches all over, that looked like a spreading infecion.
Everything around seemed like it was in an terryfying eternal sleep... so calm, yet so dead. Eerything seemed dark, even tho the rays of the sun peaked at the still plants.
He was about to stand up to examine them, when he suddenly could pull himself up...
The place where Silk Flour was sleeping... was empty. And to his horror, the only thig left after it was a big white patch on Crimson Spice's back and.... his MISSING ARM!
