Their laughter faded into silence again—warm, charged, and heavy with something unspoken.

The kiss they shared moments ago lingered on their lips, tingling like the leftover heat of a fire not yet fully put out.

Mingyu’s fingers slowly laced through Wonwoo’s, eyes scanning his face. Then, without a word, he leaned down and picked Wonwoo up bridal-style.

“M-Mingyu!” Wonwoo’s voice cracked slightly, half protest, half caught breath.

“What?” Mingyu grinned, smug. “I’m just taking my husband to our bedroom.”

The way he said our bedroom did something dangerous to Wonwoo’s chest.

He didn’t reply—just let himself be carried, arms around Mingyu’s neck, eyes darting anywhere but his face.

Once they stepped into the room, Mingyu gently kicked the door closed behind them, walked over to the bed, and laid Wonwoo down—carefully, like he was something precious.

But the moment Wonwoo's back hit the sheets, Mingyu followed—pressing him down with his body, hands on either side of his head.

“Mingyu—”

He didn’t let him finish.

Their lips crashed again, rougher than before. Desperate. The kind of kiss that said you’re mine and I want more. Mingyu's hands were firm—one gripping Wonwoo’s waist, the other threading through his hair. He kissed like a man starved of taste, of touch.

Wonwoo gasped into the kiss when Mingyu’s hips pressed closer. It felt reckless. Dizzying.

Then fingers slipped down to his shirt. Slowly, Mingyu began to undo the buttons, one by one.

Click. Click.

Wonwoo tensed.

Another button.

Click.

Suddenly, Wonwoo’s hand gripped Mingyu’s wrist. “Stop.”

Mingyu froze.

The heat between them flickered but didn’t die.

Wonwoo didn’t say anything. He just turned his face to the side, refusing to meet Mingyu’s eyes.

A second passed.

Then another.

Mingyu pulled back. Sat up slowly on the edge of the bed, taking a breath. He didn’t touch Wonwoo anymore. He gave him space, gave him silence.

And then, quietly—but clearly—he said, “I’ll wait for your permission.”

Wonwoo’s heart twisted at that. He turned his head back toward Mingyu, watching the way the younger man looked down at the floor—frustrated, maybe, but more than anything… respectful.

“Mingyu,” Wonwoo whispered. He sat up, his shirt still undone halfway, hands fumbling to fix it.

“I’m sorry,” he said after a beat. His voice was barely above a whisper. “And… thank you.”

Mingyu turned his head, surprised.

Wonwoo didn’t look away this time. “For stopping. For understanding. For not pushing.”

Mingyu smiled a little, eyes soft. “I didn’t fall for you just to hurt you, hyung.”

That word—fall—hit different.

Wonwoo felt his chest tighten. His lips parted like he wanted to say something… but instead, he just looked down, letting a small, genuine smile curl on his lips.

They sat in silence, side by side on the bed—bodies close, hearts closer.

The fire hadn’t gone out.

But for now… it could wait.

AUTHOR’S NOTE:

Okay but—
Did anyone else feel their soul leave the chat when Mingyu said,
“I’ll wait for your permission” ???
Because I had to lie down on the floor and re-evaluate my standards 😭

Wonwoo out here being emotionally vulnerable and Mingyu out here being respectful AND devastatingly soft??
LIKE SIR?? STOP?? OR DON’T?? IDK??? 😭💔

This chapter was basically: tension, heat, button click, heartbreak, respect, healing, and two dumb husbands who are Not Ready™ but Definitely In Too Deep™.

Anyway.
Thanks for coming to my emotional TED talk.
See you next chapter where the bed is STILL witnessing emotional whiplash for free.
