Drabbles and Oneshots

Ámbar and Simón sit in front of the camera in their living room, smiling. Ámbar is holding their 6-months-old baby in her arms while Simón has his arm around her.

Ámbar
We're both so happy. We love our little girl. I mean, look at her, she's absolutely perfect. But I think one is enough for me. I mean, the pregnancy was a lot, and just taking care of her is already very time consuming. So, yeah, we're leaving it at one.

------- 3 years later ------

Ámbar sits in front of the camera with an 8-month baby bump in her belly. On the background, Simón is playing with their almost 4-year-old, lifting her over his head over and over so she can try to touch the ceiling. The little girl squeals with happiness.

Ámbar
Yeah, I know I said one was enough, but our little girl needed a sibling, I mean, we can't always be with her, what with our jobs and what not, and I didn't want her to grow up alone in the house like I did. Now she's going to have a little sister to play with! Oh, she loves her already, she's always touching my stomach and talking to the baby, it's adorable. Simón and I are very happy. It's gonna get a lot more hectic around here, but we managed with the first one just fine, so I'm sure we'll adapt well to two.

We're definitely not having a third though. I think two is the perfect number. It balances out; one for each one of us. Yeah, we're closing it at two.

--------- 3 years later --------

Ámbar sits in front of the camera with a newborn against her chest. The baby is covered by a blanket, so their face can't be seen, but some blond strands peek out from under the pink hat the baby is wearing. In the background, Simón is sitting on the couch behind their first daughter, braiding her hair, while his daughter braids her little sister's hair, forming a little human train.

Ámbar
Yeah, I wanted to try for a boy, but apparently my uterus is hard-wired for girls. We love her though; she's our little blessing. Since I'm getting older, my chances of getting pregnant weren't that high, and there could've been complications but, everything went very smoothly. It only took us 4 months to get her and then the pregnancy was very peaceful— Well, as peaceful as a pregnancy can be, really. It helped that I had experience from the other two. So, yeah, now this little one has joined the family, and we couldn't be happier. It's completely wild for me to have a family this big, I never thought this would be my life growing up but, I really wouldn't change it for anything.

I know I said no more kids years ago, but this time I mean it, okay? Three is enough. Three is more than enough. We're running out of hands here, so, yeah, this is it. The last family update you guys will film probably. Definitely. Definitely, oh my god.

The shot changes and now is Simón standing in front of the camera. The rest of the family can't be seen in the background, but the sound of little voices and laughs coming from a different part of the house is unmistakable.

Cameraman
How does it feel to be the only man in the house? With three little girls now, you're completely surrounded.

Simón
(Laughs) It's beautiful. It's very beautiful. Tiring. It's a lot of work, I'll tell you that. But I love my little girls. They're all my little princesses. And Ámbar is the best mother I could've ever dreamed of for my kids. It's... (He sighs) It's like a dream come true, really. I grew up in a big family, and now I have my own family is growing, and I- I can't even explain everything that I'm feeling. I'm very happy. I'm tired, but I'm happy. And I don't care if they're all girls. All I cared about was that they were healthy, and happy, and they are. And who knows? Maybe one of them will like football (He laughs). In the meantime, I don't mind playing with dresses and dolls. I'd do it for the rest of my life with a smile on my face.

The shot changes again. Simón and Ámbar are saying goodbye to the production crew. Simón hangs back with the kids while Ámbar walks them to the door. Their newborn is still securely in one of her arms.

Cameraman
Thank you so much for receiving us, you have a beautiful family.

Ámbar
Thank you. It's almost sad that we won't see each other again.

Cameraman
We'll definitely miss you. But it's a good call for you two to keep it at three kids. Four would be too much for anybody. (He laughs)

On the background, Simón's eyes widen and he turns toward the camera, frantically making X signs with his arms to the cameraman and mouthing NONONONO

Meanwhile, front and center, the camera captures as Ámbar's expression changes. There's a certain glint in her eyes.

Ámbar
I mean, I could do it. It's just that three is enough for us, but I could totally handle four if I wanted to. Too bad for everyone else if they can't do it, but I could do it. I would be great at it, actually. You really think I can't do it? I—

The camera flips abruptly as Simón takes it in his hand. The filming stops.

I was playing with the idea in my head that, since Ámbar is indecisive when it comes to what she wants to eat, maybe she'd be like that with other stuff, like, saying she won't do something and then doing it, and that's how this little drabble came to be 😂 I wouldn't consider it a headcanon of mine, it's just a silly comedy sketch, but I decided to share it because it was funny.

Normally, I wouldn't post two things so close together, but I felt like we simbar shippers needed a little pick me up these days 🥹
