Pedro's Afternoon

Okay so, this was originally supposed to form part of 'Roads That Cross' (I actually wrote it right after I wrote chapter 2. Yes, it is THAT old) but I don't think it fits the story anymore; it's too humorous. So, I'm posting it as a drabble instead.

I wanted to give you guys something while I keep working on the next chapter. Please keep on waiting, I'll finish eventually hahaha ♡ —

It was such a nice day.

Pedro whistled, relishing the nice sun rays on his skin and the beautiful blue of the sky. It'd be a nice day to share a picnic with Delfi. Maybe he'd asked her later when she finished her college classes.

Oh, Delfi. He was so lucky to have her in his life. He laughed now at the crush he had for Tamara. Being with Delfi was so different, and it felt completely different. It was so much deeper and somehow more mature, even if she was younger than him.

He felt inspiration strike and thought he'd go to the storage room to try to write something. After all, one love song wasn't nearly enough to express just how much he loved his girlfriend. Would it ever be enough? It was in days like these were he honestly didn't think so.

He walked through the front yard of the mansion, which was huge by the way, bigger than his family's house or any other that he had ever seen for that matter, heading to the storage room he now lived in since Gary had kicked them out. Suddenly, he saw Simón from afar, walking out the room's door and closing it behind him. He jogged away, apparently with no sure destination since he kept looking everywhere like searching for something, until his eyes set on Pedro and he started running straight at him.

"Pedro! Pedro, Pedro, Pedro, thank god you're here," he said as he reached him. "I need to ask you a favor."

"What is it?" Pedro asked worried at his friend's agitated state.

"I need you to keep Matteo or anyone else away from the storage room for a couple of hours. Please."

It was then that Pedro noticed how messy his friend's hair was, the slight taint of red on his lips and the fact that he wasn't wearing his jacket nor the shirt on his hips that he had that morning.

Pedro inspiration was instantly gone.

"Oh no. Nononono, forget it!"

"What? Oh, come on, Pedro!" Simón urged, begging with his hands in front of him. "Bro, please!"

"No way!" Pedro exclaimed indignantly. "I'm not gonna act as lookout so you can go get laid with Ámbar!"

Simón had the decency to look embarrassed but didn't recede. "Why not? Pedro, you know there's no privacy at the house."

"There could be," he retorted simply. "If you just lock the door, Maggie, or anyone else for that matter, wouldn't come in."

"Yeah, but we'd have to keep quiet and I don't think that's an option right now because—"

"WOWOWOW, TOO MUCH INFO DUDE!" Pedro practically screamed, his eyes wide. He had enough with what he had already seen between them, he didn't need mental images!

Simón closed his eyes with a grimace and got back to begging mode. "The point is, pleaaaaase, do this for me."

Pedro looked at his joined hands and pleading eyes.

"Mmm I don't know..." he muttered. It didn't sound appealing to just stay in the yard doing nothing, even if it was a beautiful yard and the weather was great.

Simón seemed to think and then realization hit his eyes. "Look, what about this? I offer you the same deal with Delfi."

That caught Pedro's attention.

"Delfi?"

"Yeah! You do this for me now and I swear I'll help you out if you want some time alone with her. I know privacy is scarce at her house too," Simón prompted in a rush, giving him a look.

That sure as hell was true. The fact that her baby girl was dating an older guy didn't exactly please her parents at the beginning, even if they acted nice about it. They had realized soon that he had good intentions though, but that didn't mean they didn't have their eyes on him. There were times neither was home, but they were scarce— way too scarce for his liking if he was being honest.

After considering all this, Pedro nodded.

"Alright."

"YES! Thank you, thank you, thank you," Simón exclaimed, crushing him in an excited hug. "Just give me a couple hours and then we'll be right out," he said rapidly as he let him go.

Pedro snorted. "Dude, don't flatter yourself, I'll give you fifteen minutes."

Simón gave him a look. "Ha. ha. Just... stay here," he pleaded one last time before turning back as fast as he had come.

Pedro looked at his friend literally run back from where he came from and laughed. Who would've thought Simóncito would ever be like this. It seemed only yesterday he had arrived from Mexico; the human personification of a puppy if he had ever seen one. Pedro sighed. They grew up so fast. He looked happy though, and that's all that mattered.

That, and that now he had a place where to take Delfi.

Pedro moved to a side of the garden where he had a view of everything and sat under a tree's shadow, whistling to himself.

These were going to be some long minutes, but he was definitely going to make Simón pay for it.
