Chapter 23

He glanced around the room, "yep, think so. I also think we should get married" he paused, "and not just because of the baby, I love you and want to spend the rest of my life with you"

She felt butterflies in her stomach, "I think so too. I love you with all my heart and I couldn't think of a better way to spend the rest of my life"

The phone was vibrating on the end table, both Adam and Anthony out cold on the couch, oblivious to the phone.

"Sarge, no one is answering" the officer yelled from the steps, "I've called the number like twenty times and it just rings" he explained.

Trudy watched as Kelly Severide directed his squad on how to remove Kim from the vehicle, "bring me my phone" she yelled to him.

"Severide, is she okay?" Sean asked as she was loaded on the back board, a cervical collar around her neck, it was then he saw the full extent of her facial injuries. The window exploded leaving glass throughout her face, she was covered in blood. "Oh my god" he grabbed her hand, "I'm riding with her" he told the EMT.

"Who is calling at this hour?" Amy questioned, "hello?"

"Amy, it's Trudy Platt, I work with Adam" she told her.

"I know that, what do you need?" She was confused as to why Trudy was calling them and at nearly ten at night.

"I need to get a hold of Adam, there's been an accident. It happened right in front of the district"

Amy raced to get Bob who was brushing his teeth in the master bathroom, she saw him in the mirror, Bob knew right off the bat something was very wrong, "What kind of accident?"

Trudy felt the wind get knocked out of her as they wheeled Kim passed her, Sean still clutching her hand, "a car accident, it's Kim. Amy, you need to get Adam to Chicago Med. Her car was totaled, Sean Roman is riding in the ambulance with her. We've tried calling Adam but he hasn't answered the phone" she started jogging to the her car, "I'm on my way to the hospital, please get Adam and hurry"

"What is it?" Bob asked, "everything okay?"

Amy got dressed, "get changed, Kim's been in a car accident" her voice threatening to fail, "they can't get ahold of Adam, he's not answering his phone"

Bob changed his clothes and grabbed his phone and called Annie, while he waited for Amy to be ready.

"Your dad" Derek handed her the phone.

"I swear I'm going to hang up if he tells me I need to call Adam" she told him before answering the call.

"Hey Dad, what's up?"

"Sweetie, you need to meet us at Chicago Med, Adam needs us" Bob told her as he steered the car towards Adam's house.

Annie felt panicked, "is he okay, what's wrong?" She was furious with her brother but the thought of him being sick or hurt terrified her, "Daddy, is he okay?" She felt Derek's arm around her.

"He's fine, it's Kim. She's been in a car accident" he parked in front of Adam's house, "I have to go, we just got to Adam's, please meet us at the hospital"

"Yes of course"

"Please drive carefully, I love you"

"I love you too Daddy" she ended the call, "we need to go, Kim's been in a car accident" she was in shock, "I just saw her Derek, oh my god" she felt her knees give out.

"Hey, calm down" Derek held her, "let's go, I will drive you" he told her, "out of respect for your brother I won't go inside the hospital"

She grabbed his hand, "you have to, I can't do this without you"
