The Rose and the Prince

Sonic has now been ruling the land for a year now. The kingdom has been at peace as Sonic has been ruling well, working hard for his people. Sadly, Sonic had no time to visit his friend in Mobius, but he knew that was going to happen, as he was the most responsible person in all the land. He was the leader of the kingdom. Everyone depended on him. His life throughout the past year has been in full service to his citizens, hoping that everyone would be living a healthy, happy life. Many decrees he had made,  guardian security plans, laws, common problems he needed to deal with that would affect the kingdom, and much more. Every night, Sonic fell exhausted on the bed from the hard work that was done. 

One night, after another long day as king, he collapsed on his large bed, looking up at the detailed ceiling. He was in deep thought how hard he had been working, and I was wondering if it would get easier in the future. The fear rolls into his mind if he ever has to deal with war. The sound of it popping in his mind sent chills down his spine.

The nightmare came to life as a week had passed as a messenger came running in the throne room. 

"Your Majesty!" The messenger cried, bowing before Sonic. 

Sonic held his normal, neutral face, lifting his chin a little higher from the messenger's reaction.

"What do you have for me?"

"There has been a threat in Mobius."

This interested Sonic greatly. Would it be Eggman that could be the threat? Sonic thought to himself.

"What kind of threat?"

"This green hedgehog has been making a mess of the town on Mobius. He claims that his name is Scourge."

"What does he want?"

"He wanted me to give this to you, your majesty." The messenger held out a sealed letter.

Sonic got up from his chair, walking down the steps to meet the messenger. The messenger handed him the letter. Sonic opened it, walking up the stairs and reading the letter.

To His Majesty, King Sonic,

It was an honor to step in the grounds of your hometown, Mobius. The feeling of attacking the citizens here has been such great pleasure to me. You know what I want. I don't want to cause trouble or headaches for the citizens of this land to go into any sort of action that risks someone's life. So, instead of that, I ask you to surrender your position as king and lend me the kingdom so that we may all live in peace and tranquility. 

I am a highly skilled hedgehog and can kill fifty within minutes. I don't want this to come upon your kingdom or your people, so I ask of you to hand it over to me.

I await your response to His Majesty,

Scourge the Hedgehog.

Sonic crunched the letter in his hands. He got out a blank paper and a pen and started to write in it. He wrote:

Greetings Scourge the Hedgehog,

I have received your letter and am not pleased with any details of it. 

You think I could just hand you over the kingdom, thinking I would be scared of you. A hedgehog like you that has a desire to have the kingdom by force will not leave the kingdom in rest and peace if it ever was handed to you. 

I am a skillful hedgehog, too. Don't you even think I just sit in my chair for nothing. Your ass will be kicked. And I am happy to do it if you won't put an end to this. 

You're quite an idiot to send me a message like this because you will regret coming close to having in-person contact with me.

I suggest you back down now and leave the kingdom in peace, or you'll pay for any destruction or damage done for a pretty penny.

I'm Sonic, the Hedgehog. Don't mess with me.

King Sonic the Hedgehog. 

Sonic closed the envelope, handing the letter to the messenger. 

"Send this to Scourge the Hedgehog."

Sonic walked to the royal dining where lunch was being served. He saw Manic and Sonia sitting at the table.

"Hey Sonic!" They said, having smiles on their faces, seeing their brother.

"Hey guys. How's everything going?"

"Everything is going great for me!" Manic responded with a smile. "Just finished my fencing lessons."

"And I'm almost finished with some princess duties." Sonia responded, too. "How ruling the kingdom, today?"

"Well." Sonic sighed, tensing up. "We have some commotion in Mobius, and is possible of having a war."

Manic and Sonia gazed at Sonic in shock.

"A war!?" Sonia cried,  clarifying for what she had heard.

"I don't know just yet, but someone is threatening to take over the kingdom."

Sonia and Manic gazed at each other in astonishment.

"So what are you going to do now, Sonic?" Manic asked him.

"For starters.," Sonic finished sipping his glass of water, placing it on the table. "I'm going to head to Mobius to see how everyone is doing. Then, I'll be increasing security and making them on the lookout for anything suspicious."

"That sounds like a good start." Manic replied, exhaling slowly to control his stress from the news.

After lunch,

"Well guys, I'll be back here, soon." Sonic replied, standing on his feet to leave the dining room.
