Piper pov
Swinging my arms, I struggled to keep up with Percy, whose long legs had advantage over mine. He seemed determined to make me leave. He wasn't saying it, but I knew.
Occasionally he would look back to see if I was following him. With a smile on my face, I looked him in the eyes every time he checked.
Instead of heading to the lake where I had thought he had planned on heading, he veered to the left and headed towards the sword arena.
"Hey!," I said while jogging,"I thought you were going to the lake."
"Changed my mind." He answered simply.
I sighed . With nothing to do, I had no choice but to follow him to the arena and watch. Besides, I could learn something really useful. Gods knew I was probably going to need it again. I shuddered at the thought.
I'm startled when Percy gives a little flinch/jump to the side and walks to the other side of the arena. Curious, I look to see what the problem was. Jason.
I roll my eyes. "Really Percy?," I hiss.
He just shot me a glance. I could read it perfectly. Shut upStubborn little ... I shook my head. It was kind of comical.
Maybe Percy was hoping Jason wouldn't notice him, but if there is one thing I've noticed about spending time around Percy, you're/ he's never lucky.
"Hey Perce! Why weren't you in the pavilion this morning? Annabeth wanted to talk to you about something."
"Busy," was all Percy replied. He never broke eye contact with the dummy.
Jason seemed somewhat satisfied with that answer. He looked like he was going to say something else but i broke in.
"Hey Jason!" I called, waving.
"Hey Pipes. I didn't see you either. Is everything alright?" His eyes had a concerned look in them. His mouth twitched into a frown. The scar stood out whenever he did that. It was cute.
"It is for me," I continued while ignoring Percys glare from the side of my eye.
"Ook?" Jason replied. Clearly confused. Gods, he was oblivious sometimes.
Meanwhile, Percy was hacking away at a dummy and I noticed he seemed devoid of thought. A completely new facial expression than what I had seen in the last few months. I could usually tell what people were thinking or feeling based on their face. Must have been an Aphrodite thing. But now, Percy wasn't revealing anything. It was slightly scary how he could just look so careless and effortless practicing moves that could end your life, all while calculating exactly what to do next. I now understood Annabeth's concern for him in Tarturaus.
I was so deep in thought I didn't notice Jason nudge me.
"Is he alright? " he asked quietly. "He's... quiet."
"I don't know, Jason. I was talking to him earlier but he didn't want me to say anything. " I murmured. "I don't want him to lose trust in his friends. I'm not going to tell you. That doesn't mean you can't ask though," I say while looking at his face. Hopefully he gets the sign.
Ask him nitwit. He needs to talk to you.
Jason's eyes cleared and he smiled at me. He turned away from me slowly and stepped cautiously towards Percy.
His steps seemed wolf like, I noticed. Being with Lupa must have rubbed off some useful characteristics, like being able to sneak up on your friend and interrogate them.
I watched with a thoughtful tilt of my head as Jason crept a little bit closer to him. Suddenly Jason grabbed Percy and shot up into the air. Percy gave a stunned yelp.
Jason was going to get some answers.
