Chapter 21

"Hey, Zero?" she whispered. "If you take one little bite and suck my blood, won't you get well immediately?" she asked.

"I don't want it." Zero replied, not even looking away from his notes.

"Ah! Now I remember." Yuki spoke, pointing at a problem in the notes. "About here, I copied from the board and..." she began, leaning close to Zero. "Look, it's here..." she said, leaning closer.

"Here? But..." Zero began when suddenly, Yuki bites his neck like a vampire. "Wha...?" Zero eyes grew wide, then pushed her away. "What are you doing!!" he shouts in panic.

"Since I'm always being bitten, I returned the favor." Yuki said with a serious gleam in her eyes. "Now we're even, so don't you be hesitating and opposing! Just drink my blood already like you did before and get well" Yuki declares, pointing at Zero.

But Zero kicks Yuki out.

"Just go." he said then slammed the door in her face.

Zero leans his back up against the door. Then a strike of pain in his right arm.

"Ah? Zero?" you spoke coming out of the kitchen with a tray of cups and a tea pot. "Where's Yuki?" you asked, looking around the room.

Zero didn't look at you. He kept his head down. You sighed then placed your tray on the coffee table.

"Well, I guess Yuki wasn't a very good tutor. Guess it can't be helped." you said, pouring tea in two cups then sat on the couch. "Come on." you said, patting the seat next to you, Zero looked up at you and sat down besides you. "Alright, what do you want to start with first? Algebra, History, Science, Health..."you asked when you noticed Zero staring at you. "Is something the matter, Zero?" you asked, but he looked at your disciplinary committee arm band that was on your right arm.

"You joined the disciplinary committee?" he asked.

"Eh? Oh yeah I did! I thought that after what happened last night, I finally started to understand that not all vampires are good. So I decided to become a guardian and protect Cross Academy!" You replied with a smile.

Zero's eyes widen then turned into a soft and gentle gaze with a hint of sadness. He looked away from you, his silver bangs hiding his eyes.

"Huh...Zero?" you blinked your eyes in confusion.

"Sorry..." He muttered.

"Eh? Zero, what are you apologizing  for? You didn't do anything wrong." You tried to reassure him, waving your hands in front of you, then Zero suddenly grabbed your right wrist and pulled you close to him, burying your face into his left shoulder.

"I'm so sorry that you had to go through that..." Zero's voice was soft and gentle, cresting the back of your head. "If something were to happen to you or Yuki, I wouldn't be able to forgive myself." he spoke, then his body started to tremble, squeezing your wrist.

Your eyes grew wide then you smiled.

"No..." You spoke, causing Zero to twitch a bit. "If Shizuka didn't get me involved, then I would've known what happened to your family years ago. Well to put it simply, I'm actually kinda grateful to Shizuka." You proclaimed, Zero's eyes grew wide with surprise. "...because I got to learn more about you, Zero." You added pulling out of his embrace and looked at him straight in the eye. "I feel like you've opened up to me more!" You smiled.

Zero blinked in awe then smirked. He reached over and pinched your cheeks.

"Hey! Shero! Shtop that hurchs!" You cried as he kept pinching your cheeks until they were rosy red.
