"It's not over."

"Lucas you can't go to Texas," I said.
I knew he didn't want to go to Texas, but I knew that he couldn't just leave his sister's stuff for his parents to throw away.
"Maya I can't let them throw away her stuff. I have no choice."
"If you go to Texas and see your parents what will keep you from doing things you'll regret."
"I will not regret anything that I say to them."
"Lucas don't go."
"I have to go."
He wanted to go. He wanted to go for the wrong reasons though. Letting him go by himself would be a mistake.
I said, "Then I am going to go with you."

Lucas tried looking for a plane ticket to Texas for hours, but he could only find one that left in a week. Christmas was coming up soon so most people had already booked flights back home. I tried talking him into going in a week, which didn't work. He begged me to drive with him to Texas.
We were leaving tomorrow at noon. We were only planning on staying for a couple days plus days it would take to get their and back.
I started packing my suitcase full of everything that I thought I would need.
The drive to Texas was going to take two or three days, because we were doing to stop at different hotels or motels. I would have been fine staying in the car, but Lucas wouldn't let that.
"Maya?" Lucas called, from his bedroom.
I got up from my floor and walked over to his bedroom. He was laying on his bed with his laptop out looking through different websites.
"What's up?" I asked.
"Should I look for a place to stop right now or do you just want to find a place wherever we want to stop?"
"I would look for a place, because I checked the weather and it is supposed to rain all this week. I don't want us to get stuck out in the rain with no place to sleep."
"Okay."
I turned back around and started walking back towards my room.
"Maya?"
I turned back around so that I could face him.
"Thanks for going with me. Not may people would drive a car with their friend for two says in a row."
"I don't mind. I know that you would do the same for me."
"I would."
I turned back around and started walking to my room again. Lucas stopped me again.
"And I meant what I said last month. I still love you."
"Lucas."
"What went wrong with us?"
"Lucas you know what happened."
"I know what happened like I get that it's over, but I just needed to say that. I think that I will always love you."
