"I miss our conversations. I miss our smile. I miss our jokes. But most of all, I miss you."

I woke up with Lucas' arms still wrapped around me. He was sound asleep and I had to peel his arms off of my body so that I could get up.
I let him sleep as I jumped into the shower. Once I put on another pair of sweat pants I brushed my hair out and stuck it up into a bun. Even when I came out of the bathroom this time Lucas was still asleep.
I didn't want to wake him up though. Who knows the last time that Lucas was actually able to sleep for more than three hours?
We didn't have to be in Texas by a certain time so I was going to rush him.

After staying in the motel for a couple hours doing nothing I got bored and decided to walk around.
The motel that we were staying at was next coffee shop. I went inside. The shop was small, but it had one of those busy vibes to it. I love places like this. They don't have a lot of these places in California, but New York has a lot of them.
A worker from behind a counter asked, "What can I get for you ma'am?"
"I'll have a small hot chocolate with mini marshmallows," I replied.
"Okay. Will that be for here or to go?"
"Here is fine."
"Libby can I get a small chocolate with mini marshmallows," she shouted back to someone.
A voice yelled back, "We have to make a fresh pot so it will be a couple minutes."
"That's okay I don't mind waiting."
I payed the lady and then took a seat by the window. Besides myself and the two women working here the shop was quite. Nobody was making noise.
There was a bookshelf on the opposite side of the room. I got up and shuffled through the stacks of books until I heard a familiar laugh. When I looked up I saw myself sitting down at the same table I was just sitting at. Lucas was sitting next to me.
But it wasn't me, because I was here.
I walked over and stood right in front of them. In front of us.
"What do you think about taking a trip to Georgia next week?" Lucas asked, taking my hand, "I know that it is one of your favoeite places. We can go away for the week. I'll ditch classes and you can ditch your boring meetings. What do you say?"
I laughed, "I would love to, but don't you think that is just a little irresponsible?"
I remember this conversation we had. This was the conversation we had the day after Lucas got his acceptance letter to Frankin.
"Fine then let's go for five days or at least for the weekend," he compromised.
I shook my head, "I don't think Marty would approve of this."
"I think we need to just get away for a while. Go somewhere and just you and I hang out. We won't have to deal with anything else. Plus it will give us both time to think about things."
"What things do we need to think about?"
"You can think about if you want to write more music."
"What kind of stuff do you need to think about?"
"School. I just really want to clear my head. Plus getting the chance to spend alone time with you is a plus."
I never saw it until now. He was trying to take me away so that he could tell me the truth. He needed to get away from all the drama to actually tell me what was going on.
"As much as I want to jump on a plane with you right now and go to Georgia we just can't," I said.
Lucas gave a disappointing frown, "Okay. But can we at least have some alone time here."
"No! Maya what are you doing!" I yelled at my past self, "Maya go with him. Tell him that you love him. This is where it all went wrong. We can change this."
My past self turned away from Lucas and looked at me.
"No we can't. The past is the past. We can't change it that is why it is called the past," my past self said to me.
"But we have to change this. That whole conversation is the reason why we broke up."
"I've already told you that we can't undo this. Why do you care anyway? Why do you need this undone? Aren't you better off without him?"
"And here's your hot chocolate."
I was snapped back into reality. The lady sat down my hot chocolate on the table.
What just happened?
"Whoa! Are you okay?" The lady asked.
I shrugged my shoulders, "I...I think so."

So if you couldn't tell Maya was witnessing a conversation that she has with Lucas in the past. This conversation could have prevented her and Lucas from breaking up and she is just now realizing this. Then we started talking to herself about wanting to change that moment in time.
