It was raining heavily. The sky was grey, and the air was thick. When I breathed out, my breath was visible. What have I done?
I could hardly feel my paws, the ground beneath me was cold and wet. My snout was covered in dirt from when I stumbled awhile back. I couldn't smell where I was.
I didn't know anything actually, this part of the woods wasn't familiar. I should've stayed home. I should've ran to my room and slammed the door and not have left for three days. It's hard to throw a tantrum and be in the right when you are lost. In the woods. Proving their point.
"Why must you control every aspect of my life?"
"Sweetheart, it's not that we don't trust you-"
"I know that! You think I can't protect myself! Now you don't trust me either?"
"Emi, you know you wouldn't stand a chance out there! The world is too dangerous for you, little fox."
"But I'm not a fucking fox! I'm a wolf!"
The nickname came from a tender place, but over the years it had become my torment.
"What does the fox say?"
"Aw, little fox wants to tag along?"
"Did your parents call you a kit?"
As Alpha's daughter, it was worse than death to know I wasn't respected in my pack.
All because my family wouldn't leave me alone. They suffocated me. They wouldn't let me go until I found my mate they said. How was I supposed to find my mate if I never left the house?
Why is my mate expected to take care and look after me? I'm not his child. I love being independent. I don't understand why I had to be given a small wolf.
I dug my paws into the ground and stretched. I wasn't going to be much of anything other than a meal for someone if I didn't get out of here. I whined. The rain was getting colder. I might have to be defrosted before I'm eaten. 35 minutes at 425 degrees. Season first. I'm hilarious.
"Momma! Momma! It's a puppy!" A little boy runs towards me. Even from here I can tell he's cute. I tilt my head and stare at them. Why isn't he running from me? I am a wolf, even if I look like a puppy.
"Sweetie don't anger the nice doggy, just wait for mama!" The little boy has bright blue eyes and light brown hair. He runs right up to my face and then sits himself down in front of me. He starts singing dribbles of 'puppy is so pretty, puppy is dirty..'
What it would be to a baby again, huh.
A tall thin woman with similar features runs and picks him up. The little boy squeals and she chastises him. "I told you not to run away! It dangerous to get lost in the woods!"
Tell me about it.
"Puppy!" The woman finally turns to where the child points- at me. She looks shocked, but then smiles and pets me. Stupid woman, if I was just a wolf I might have bitten her hand off. Can't she see that? Has she heard of rabies?
"Hi, sweetie. Are you lost?" I whine. Oh, no.
She checks under my neck for a collar. I step backwards. It's weird when she touches me. She frowns and tries again. I don't let her touch me. Hands from behind grab me and shove me into a warm chest.
I growl.
A loud laugh booms in my ear. My heart speeds up. If I could sweat I would be. My nostrils open up wide. I bet I look like a miniature sasquatch. My mouth lags open. My legs go slack.
Is this... is this my-
I get shoved into his sweater and I pass out.

While I was out of it, I dreamed of playing on the swings with a little dark haired boy. "Momma Momma! Can we keep him?"
The little boy changed into a man. He came up towards and started speaking, but I couldn't hear him.
The walls were white, and there was no doors. The man looked at me with tears in his eyes. "I'm sorry."
I don't know why I was sorry.
Whatever else I dreamed drifted off into nothing.
