-Syndey's POV-
"Syndey wake up you're going to be late to school!" I heard my dad calling from downstairs. I rolled over and checked my phone. It was 6:30, only 5 minutes past the time I normally woke up.
I groaned and pulled myself out of bed. The weekend had gone by quickly, too quickly. I was just grateful that spring break was only 5 torturous days of school away.
I assumed that my brother was going to be taking his girlfriend on vacation over the break which meant that I had some time to myself, as long as my dad didn't bother me.
I dragged on with my morning and straightened my hair before throwing on jean shorts and an Imagine Dragons tshirt. I pulled on classic black and white converse before heading downstairs. I tossed a bagel in the toaster and waited for it to pop back out.
Once it did I spread Nutella over it before heading over to my garage with the bagel in my hand. It was nice enough for me to board to school so I grabbed my backpack from the mudroom and grabbed my penny as I headed back towards the front door.
"Loser." I heard my brother taunt from the stairs. I rolled my eyes and put on sunglasses before going out the door and down the driveway. I rolled my penny and jumped on, bagel still in hand. I ate as I made my way to the school. The way there and back was pretty neutral with small hills here and there. It was around a 10 minute ride.
I made it to the school 20 minutes early and decided to go to the music studio to work on some songs I wanted to learn.
20 minutes later it was time for me to head to class. I sighed as I found my way into the crowded hallway. I knew it was again, bound to happen at some point. I scanned the ground carefully so that I didn't make the same mistake I did the previous week. I turned the corner and continued towards my locked before I felt myself thrown against the lockers to my right.
"What the fuck?!" I screamed as I turned to see my brother's 'best friend' Riley holding me against the locker.
"Your brother warned you of what would happen right?" I sighed and nodded.
"Yea sure."
"Well, he wanted me to tell you that he plans to make your life so bad, you won't want to live it anymore."
"Well there's no need for that now is there?" I glared at him. He shot me a confused look, I took this chance to knee him in the crotch. He immediately doubled over, forcing him to remove his arms from beside me. I slipped beside him and finished walking to my locker. I changed my books quickly before finding myself in my first class of the day.
I would pay for hurting his friend later but I could at least manage for now.
It felt like forever until the day was over. I almost screamed when the final bell rang because it scared me. I had though we still had another hour or two in class but we apparently didn't, which I wasn't complaining about. I pulled myself together and headed out the back of the school. I didn't want to risk getting caught or hurt by my brother or any of his dumb friends. I twisted my board around in my hands a little bit before rolling it out on the ground and stepping on it.
I felt like tonight was a good night to not be home so I made a plan to stop by my house and grab my wallet as well as change.
I changed into a bikini and put my clothes back on over it. I slipped my converse back on and decided to put my wallet as well as a towel, a change of clothes, and sunscreen into a penny board bag. I put my sunglasses on and headed out the house on my board. I saw my brothers car pulling up the driveway when I was about halfway down the street. I sighed, knowing that I was probably safe for the time being.
I happily made my way to the beach. I sang a few songs as I thought about my current life situation in my head. There was only a month and a half left of school, and then my brother would be gone. It didn't help that he had been accepted into the same school I had just applied for, UCLA, it was across the country, but I was willing to leave my home in Florida to go school there.
I was super into photography and planned on working on my astrophotography. I smiled as I remembered that I had left my camera in my penny bag. It was a vintage camera that my grandmother had given me, one of the kinds that prints the picture right away.
It was a short ride to the beach. There weren't many people there, it was almost never busy, the waves were too big for most people's liking at this beach, which was kind of nice, the water was clear, no one would take my stuff, and I would just not be bothered.
I laid my stuff down in a nice spot on the sand before taking my clothes and shoes off and heading over to the surfboard rentals. I had my own surfboard but I had asked if I could leave it there so that nothing happened to it. It had been my mother's and I didn't trust my brother or dad with it to say the least.
"Hey Austin!" I said as I approached the little hut.
"Hey!" He said. "Hold on one sec." He said before disappearing into the back and returning with my board.
"Thanks man!" I said as he handed it to me. He nodded and I headed back to the beach.
______
Yay, more character building. This chapter was a bit weird and all over the place, but I'm proud I think.
