-Sydney's POV-
I smiled a little bit as I pulled myself out of bed, for two reasons. One being that there were about two weeks left of school, one of those weeks being finals week. The other reason, being that it was Friday and Tucker and I were supposed to hang out after school.
I wore my usual to school, except with a cute shirt and necklace, plus some bracelets. Kylie had taught me some things about boys noticing small things.
To be honest, today was the only day that I was dressing like this. I normally just wore my normal t-shirt and shorts.
I did my morning routine and headed outside on my board, eager to get to school and hopefully catch Tuck before school.
Over the past two weeks since we had met we had been hanging out a lot more and had gotten to know a lot about each other. I was picking up the vibes that he liked me, and I could say the feeling was mutual, I was just waiting for him to make a move.
"Hey!" I said as I road up to the school. Tucker was waiting outside for me.
"Hey!" He ran up to me and hugged me.
"How are you?" I asked him.
"I'm good, how about you?"
"I am well. We still hanging out tonight?" I wanted to make sure.
"For sure, I haven't decided what we are gonna do yet though." He scratched his head.
"I know!" I stood a little taller. "You skateboard right?"
"I also own a penny board." He added.
"How about we penny around the beach, it's what I like to do."
"I'm cool with that."
"Do you surf or anything."
"Well I mean, yeah, I haven't in a while, do you?"
"Kinda." I smirked.
"How about that then?"
"Perfect, meet me at my house at 4, that way you can change and stuff okay?" I asked him.
"Okay." He smiled. "Will do."
I smiled back at him. It was kind of like planning a first date. "Oh yeah! I just remembered my dad is on a business trip so if we get bored and want to head back to my house we will probably have it to ourselves."
"What about your brother?"
"He's probably going to be out doing something with Kylie, they've been dating for like 6 months and I think he wants to take her on a special date."
"That's cute." He said.
"Yea, well I'm going to go to class, see you after school!" I said before hugging him and heading to my locker.
They day couldn't have gone by any slower. I would zone out for what felt like hours but in reality it was only 5 minutes. I just couldn't wait for this afternoon.
Tucker was actually my favorite person on the planet, and I loved hanging out with him. His presence was just so enjoyable.
Eventually the final bell rang. I practically ran out of the room and to my locker. I threw the door open and yanked my board out.
I went out the back of the school and got home as quick as I could. By the time I did I still had an hour to do nothing. I sighed as I changed in my sports bikini and threw on a muscle tee and a different pair of jean shorts. I put a towel and some snacks into my penny bag, along with my sunscreen and earbuds. I double checked to make sure my wallet was in there so that if we got food I was able to buy some. By the time everything was packed I still had 30 minutes.
I sighed, frustrated that time was going by so slow. I decided to climb up onto my roof and watch the ocean.
This time I decided to sit closer to the front of my house so that I could see Tucker when he showed up.
I plugged in my earbuds and just watched the waves crash against the sand. It was kind of a nice thing, being raised near the ocean, I knew exactly when the tide was at it's highest, and when it was at it's lowest, it made a huge difference when I wanted to surf. Luckily the tide was going to be at it's highest probably around the same time Tucker and I would go out into the water.
"What are you doing up there?" I heard from below.
"Looking at the ocean." I said. "It's prettier at night though, I'll bring you back here, I promise." I said before disappearing into my room.
I grabbed my bag and board and ran downstairs.
I tied my converse and ran out the front door, using my house key to make sure it was locked.
"Well aren't you excited?" Tuck asked as I ran into his arms.
"Very!" I said and looked up at him.
"Then let's go."
We both hopped on our boards. I told him which way we were going to go so that we could talk as we went.
I kept catching Tuck staring at me when we were riding. I felt myself blushing at one point.
"You're really pretty." He said. I blushed.
"Thank you." He slapped his hand over his mouth before nodding. I laughed at him.
We went pretty far down the shore, by where the hut was. It was my favorite place to surf.
"Have you actually surfed in Florida before?" I asked him, knowing that he was from Wyoming.
"A little bit." He said.
We set up our stuff before heading to the hut.
"Hey Austin!" I said as we approached the hut.
"Hey Syndey. I'll be back." He turned and came back with my board.
"Thank you so much, do you think you could hook my friend up here with a board?" I asked looking at Tucker.
I could feel a vibe of jealousy course through the air.
"Yea one sec." Austin came back with a really nice board. "It's on me." He said, handing it to Tucker.
"Thank you!" I said.
"Thanks." Tucker nodded and took the board.
We both headed back to the water.
"That's a really nice board." Tucker said as we took a second to sit down and talk. "Is it yours?"
"It was actually my mothers." I said. I hadn't told him everything about her yet, I guess now was a good time.
I told him everything from Hawaii, to her death, to everything she passed onto me.
"I'm sorry." He said.
"Don't be." I smiled and ran my fingers over the engraved words on the surfboard. They were my mother's initials, which also happened to be mine, after a family tradition. I showed Tucker.
"Her name was Samantha Ramona Lee." I told him. He nodded.
"What's your middle name?"
"Rose." I told him.
"That's so pretty." He told me.
"Thank you." I said before standing up and running to the water. "Come on loser!"
